Pennsylvania governor raising minimum wage for state workers

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) — Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf is raising the minimum wage by nearly $3 an hour, to $10.15, for state government employees and workers on jobs contracted by the state.

The Democrat signed an executive order Monday establishing the new wage minimum. It'll affect a few hundred state employees and a narrow set of state contracts.

Pennsylvania's Republican-controlled Legislature hasn't considered Wolf's request to set the minimum at over $10 for everyone. Pennsylvania wages are set at the decade-old federal minimum of $7.25 an hour, like 20 other states.

Without federal action, numerous mayors are bumping employee wages higher, some to $12 or $15 an hour.

I like Wolf he is in a huge battle with a republican controlled legislature.
Republicans ran this state entirely for the last four years and we are in real trouble
We have a several billion dollar systemic deficit (however corporate taxes were cut)
We have a 54 billion dollar pension bomb (republicans refused to pay the bills)
Our credit rating is dropping
We lag the nation in job creation 49th
Our schools are failing. Philadelphia has a 50% drop out rate. The district was taken over by the state and has been run by republicans for years. Philadelphia schools are a failure yet ten miles up the road there are suburban districts that are rich and offering some of the best education in the country
Our infrastructure is falling apart.
We just found out about a major water pollution problem in lower Bucks county. PFOA is in the water.
We still do not have a budget from last summer!

I wish Wolf well but he has a long row to hoe. Don't even think about moving to Pa we are a mess.
