No, Donald Trump Isn't Being Charged With Inciting A Riot

Source: NPR

Update: The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office officially has decided not to file charges against Donald Trump, North Carolina TV station WRAL reports:

"By Monday night, investigators determined that "the evidence does not meet the requisites of the law as established under the relevant North Carolina statute and case law to support a conviction of the crime of inciting a riot," sheriff's office spokesman Sean Swain said in a statement.'

Original Post: Donald Trump has denied that escalating violence and heated confrontations at his political rallies were his responsibility, but one local law enforcement group weighed testing that on Monday.

Local station WRAL was the first to report that the Cumberland County Sheriff's Office was considering charging the GOP presidential front-runner with inciting a riot after a protester was punched in the face during a rally he held in Fayetteville, N.C., last week. Now the office seems to have reconsidered that.

Constitution.

The constitutional standard for incitement sets the bar very high.

Sheriffs office put out the statement that they were looking into possibly charging Trump for incitement is a step in the right direction.

If his rallies continue as they are it is only a matter of time until this happens. Trump is playing with fire...eventually he is going to get burned.

Way too many people inciting violence, vandalism, bullying people to keep them quiet, etc., it's nuts, enough of riots already, on all sides, decent people need to stand against it.

...when I see people storm a stage to shut down Sanders, or I see a Sanders supporter get to the stage to grab at Trumps leg, I see escalation/agitation.

...when I see someone champion a cop killer or I hear "burn the b* down" before a riot, or when I see Trump say he'd like to punch someone and will pay people's legal fees if they fight, I see incitement, same kind of people, really. I don't care what party they identify with, they are the problem.

There is no comparison between what Trump is saying/encouraging and what a few Sanders supporters may have done on their own, separate from the candidate.

If not, your claim of both "sides" doing the same thing falls kinda flat.

Remember the name.
He is trumps campaign manager. He grabbed and threw to the ground Michelle Fields the right wing Breitbart reporter. Ms Fields filed a police report. There are significant bruises on Ms Fields arms documented by photos. There were witnesses including WaPo reporters and photographers.
There will be charges against Mr.Lewandowski, likely felony assault.
This will be the unraveling of trumps campaign, he has attacked the right wing, the snake will eat itself.

I am though not surprised at the outcome. Money talks, and it talks big time. So do the stuck attitudes of the brain washed and the timid.

I once got stopped on Interstate 52 S not far from there because a medium size piece of paper flew off my truck bed. I had 13 anti Bush bumperstickers. The cops sat behind my truck for longer than 30 min. writing my ticket which was for $ 430. They knew I was on the way to the airport to catch a plane. They offered to forego the ticket if I wanted to go walk and find the paper.

Need I say more?

Except, I love North Carolina, and there is hope, and growth, and beauty and progress.

Oh, I had to go to that county to fight the ticket, and I won. Walked out paying $ 25.

Although I think they have erred on the side of caution and respect for
the political establishment, the authorities are bound to interpret the law
and the fact of a public denial stands as a shining beacon to the Trump
campaign that the laws may apply to them at some point.

Hope there are others locally that can pursue the case, though.

Incitement is no small matter.
