Protesters block main road to Donald Trump rally in Arizona

Source: AP

PHOENIX -- Protesters are blocking a main highway leading into the Phoenix suburb where Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump is set to hold a campaign rally.

The protesters parked their cars in the middle of the road Saturday, unfurling banners with anti-Trump slogans and chanting "Trump is hate." The disruption caused a lengthy traffic backup, and drivers honked their horns in frustration.

Maricopa County Sheriff Deputy Joaquin Enriquez said officers will ask the protesters to move and if they don't comply, they will forcibly remove them.

The disruption occurred well after large crowds lined up to get into the Fountain Hills rally, where Trump is scheduled to speak alongside Arizona's revered Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

But I will not advocate in any way shape or form what these people are doing, I do not want to hear from anyone when the worm turns, it all boils down to free speech and as much as I despise Trumps delivery no one has the right to shut him or his supporters down. I stand by my original statement of how are people going to feel when the Trump supporters turn this around and do it to my Choice Sanders or Hillary supporters.

Blocking the rally itself would have been more effective than blocking an entire highway. How is blocking traffic for others not even interested in Trump going to help in the long run? Absolute stupidity that will just fuel Trump supporters into a backlashing frenzy.

Blocking a busy highway is about as idiotic a means of protest as I can think of, all it's going to do is piss people off and provide free publicity to Trump. If you want to protest, take a placard and start pounding the sidewalk outside of the facility where the rally is being held.

Someone can lose a house trying to get documentation to a courthouse on time. Women in labor might be delayed or forced to give birth in less than ideal circumstances -- let's hope the baby has no complications and the mother too. People can be late for jobs. People like waiters can lose their jobs.

Protests should only affect people with a direct interest or direct support of the opposing side. For example, sitting down at lunch counters or anti-war protesters blocking access to a defense contractor.

Massive street protests are scheduled ahead of time.

Otherwise, please stand aside and protest with signs and noise and (where possible) persuasion.

This is so stupid, I don't even know where to begin.

1) You are not marginalising Trump. You are giving him even more free airtime than he already gets.

2) You are not turning people to the Clinton and Sanders cause, quite the opposite, in fact, because it makes the left look like hoodlums.

3) You are making people who are not even interested in the the Trump rally suffer, miss appointments, possibly lose jobs, die (if in an ambulance) and miss out on all sorts of important things. You might even be turning those people into Trump supporters.

4) You are taking away the right of peaceful political assembly to all the rally attendees.

5) You are doing something illegal.

How is any of this at all helpful to the Democratic cause?

Someone posted this
"The reason to do a major third candidate effort is to deny the Dems a majority of the electoral college, which throws the election to the House where Republicans of the establishment variety will almost certainly control. They can elect his third candidate as President even if he or she has only 1 electoral college vote. They will do anything to help Trump win a couple blue states to make this happen, and if necessary, and just like with the the republican convention, they will change the rules as needed, such as to proportional representation in some normally Blue electoral college states that are currently controlled by Republicans (michigan, pennsylvania, etc) . Dems are currently insisting that Repubs "meet, and vote, and do theif constitutional responsibility" on the supreme court nominee, and Repubs will want Dems to do the same thing with the House and the electoral college, so Dems won't even be able to refuse to meet, refuse to vote, or refuse to install the popular vote AND electoral college vote LOSER!! The sound you here is maniacal laughter of Republican Operatives."
