Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton on Tuesday called on La Crosse County voters to support her plan to rebuild the middle class through education, promoting a green energy economy and expanding access to health care...............
We have to restore the potential of Americas dream for everybody, she said. I dont want Americans giving up on themselves.
................
The former secretary of state panned her Democratic rival Sen. Bernie Sanders free tuition plan, which she said relies on cooperation from governors like Wisconsins Scott Walker.
That seems like a big leap of faith to me, Clinton said.
Clinton promised to create jobs rebuilding the countrys roads, bridges and water systems while also promoting renewable energy.
................
She vowed to expand Obamacare, and to protect access to abortion, marriage equality and voters rights, drawing cheers from the crowd with each................

Hillary is right about Sanders college plan--which relies on individual states. The problem--NO Red state --like WI Governor will ever implement his college plan--
It will be like the ACA--Walker has NOT expanded Medicare. The people in these states--WILL BE LEFT BEHIND with Sanders college plan--just like the people in these states are left behind in health care.
Hautala was an attendee in the audience:
>>>>>>>>>Hautala said she admires Clintons tenacity as well as her compassion and pragmatism.
We cant afford what Bernies proposing, she said of Sanders.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Clinton spoke ....in an unfinished wing on the fourth floor of Western Technical Colleges new Integrated Technologies Center, where she outlined her plan to provide debt-free college education for middle- and working-class families, which she said she would pay for by taxing wealthy people, while also working to reduce existing college debt.

(26,795 posts)This is the sort of thing I had hoped she'd say as she turns toward the General Election and campaigns for Sanders.
Yay, Hill!

Can't we just go from unfair to fair? Do we have to settle for "fairer"?
We cant afford what Bernies proposing,
Really? We can't afford a fair economy?

(241 posts)She actually has veered a little ickle to the left due to Sanders but she just isn't yet at that sweet spot. I think he should demand students get 100k/year included in their free education and everyone gets a sky scraper as well. Then she could say she believes in free community college for up to 1 year and a mini shanty for everyone. Then we are all happy.

(699 posts)and we still had a middle class.
That would be fairer.
No NAFTA, no CAFTA, no Wall Street run amok with leveraged buyouts, no offshore tax havens for corporations, no China in the WTO.
Easy to imagine.

"She vowed to expand Obamacare"
What will this expansion do if someone like Walker will not permit it? If we're left with just an expansion of Obamacare, which wont be allowed, and having someone come in like Bernie who wants single-payer, which wont be alloewd either, then it would see we should go for broke and get the guy in who proposes more. You know, force the issue out into the open, put pressure on republicans make THEM compramise and meet US in the middle.

(490 posts)Elect Clinton and we can imagine a fairer economy. No, you wont get one but let your imagination run wild. Thanks Hill!
Just imagine!
Corporations paying 2% instead of zero taxes would be fairer, (meeting her criteria) but it still would be fair. One hundred dollars more financial aid for college students would be fairer, (meeting her criteria) but it still would be fair. Big banks paying one-thousand-dollar fines for their part in the2008 financial meltdown would be fairer, (meeting her criteria) but it still would be fair.
And, as you said, you won't get one but let your imagination run wild.

(1,442 posts)I'd love to 'imagine' a lot of things too but I'd rather work towards big goals that achieve greater opportunities rather than the micro half measures HRC proposes
HRC is and always will be republican light, her history validates that, her present and positions reinforce it
Our society deserves a bigger bolder thinker and policies that work towards that endeavour, HRC misses that completely with her campaign, Bernie is on target with his campaign
