Grassley meets with Supreme Court nominee for morning meal but refuses to break fast on confirmation

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Joseph Morton

WASHINGTON — Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, opted for a hearty bowl of oatmeal Tuesday morning when he sat down to breakfast with President Barack Obama’s nominee for the Supreme Court.

Judge Merrick Garland came to the U.S. Capitol for an early morning repast with Grassley in the senators-only dining room. Grassley skipped the typical photo-op and chat session with reporters that accompanies such courtesy visits.

Later in the day, Grassley told The World-Herald that he and his GOP colleagues aren’t backing off their position that Garland should not get a vote.

“It was a very pleasant meeting, but in the end he knows that nothing’s changed my mind or the mind of 52 Republicans,” Grassley said.

Senate Republicans are literally full of shit, here. They are being derelict in their Constitutional duties. Failing to hold hearings on a Supreme Court nominee is an abdication of the oath they swore when taking office. They should be ashamed, but they appear to have no shame whatsoever.
