Tennessee Rep. Holt to give away AR-15 at fundraiser

Source: Memphis Commercial Appeal

One day after the worst mass shooting in American history, Rep. Andy Holt, is firmly standing behind his decision to give away a semi-automatic rifle similar to the one used in the Orlando shooting.

While announcing his plans last week to hold his first annual "Hog Fest and Turkey Shoot," Holt, R-Dresden, said he will give away an AR-15 as a door prize to an attendee of his June 25 fundraiser.

The event is also scheduled to include a turkey shoot — participants are encouraged to bring their own rifle and ammo.

Holt said despite Sunday's massacre in Orlando that left 50 people dead and 53 wounded, he remains stalwart in his belief that the weapon used in the mass shooting is not to blame.

usually shotguns with light loads aimed at paper targets.

A rifle? Really?

Oh, you should see the asshole running for congress here in MO.

Eric Greitens, a seal, shooting up targets on TEEVEE, 'cause that's what he's gonna do to congress....

The stupid, it hurts.

Nobody hunts or defends their home like that

Sure it costs $1400-1600 in America with lots of gun stores everywhere. But it's closer to $35,000-$40,000 in Australia and some other countries where it is harder to get.

The winner will NOT just be handed an AR-15. They will receive a voucher that they can take to a gun shop.

They WILL have to complete the paperwork and undergo the standard background check.

I've been to several of these things and never won anything

all states require background checks for any weapon, handgun or rifle, if purchased from a dealer. Some states add addition requirements such as waiting periods.

make it nearly impossible to even think of Repugs as people. What a total jerk! He better hope no one is hurt with that gun, though he'd only care because of his potential liability, not because he's an actual human being with feelings and such.
