Police: W.Va. man shot and killed three people 'ambush-style'

Authorities said a preliminary investigation shows three people were murdered when a Great Cacapon, W.Va., man who was prepping for the "end of times" hid behind a tree and opened fire with an assault-style rifle Monday afternoon on top of Sideling Hill Mountain in Morgan County, W.Va.
"He took cover behind a tree and shot these people ambush-style," Morgan County Sheriff Vince Shambaugh said Tuesday morning.
He said an initial investigation and information provided by a person who escaped the shooting indicate Erick Shute, 32, of Great Cacapon, fired the fatal shots from behind an oak tree about 20- to 25-yards away.
The dead were identified as Jack Douglas of Great Cacapon, and Travis Bartley and Willie Bartley, both of Hedgesville, W.Va.
Shambaugh said an AR-15 rifle was used to commit the killings.

It's a nonstarter of course but as I mentioned in another post today, anybody who can answer "I would be willing to kill because..." with any single thing other than "...of the need to act in defense of an imminent real physical threat to human life" shouldn't have a gun. That very much includes anyone saying "...God/Allah/Trump/ wants me to." Not all religious people, but you asked about extremists. Anybody who thinks ANYTHING be it cause, country, faith, leader etc etc ad infinitum is more importantthan human lives has no business getting hold of something that makes it very easy to end them.

Erick Shute, who gained some fame as the vocalist for Pyrexia, has been taken into custody for the murder of three men. According to Herald-Mail Media, Shute is accused of shooting and killing three men who were cutting down wood on a property adjacent to his own West Virginia property. The authorities have also reported that Shute had a history of bad blood with the victims, whom he is alleged to have killed with an AR-15.

County Sheriff Vince Shambaugh also mentioned that Shute displayed various signs of being an “end of times” survivalist, having various stockpiles of food, weapons and ammunition on his property. Shute went on to defend himself on his Facebook in a since deleted post:

“This was self defense. I talked to a cop and he even agreed this is an open and shut case of self defense and that they probably won’t even pursue charges” I am just waiting to talk to the prosecutor. I have nothing to hide. Media can contact me on my cell. I am open to talk. These guys stole over $20,000 pf my stuff and sold it for drugs and threatened me to my face before. They even unscrewed [sic] brake lines while was asleep. Everyone not on drugs on the mountain hates them. These are known thieves and drug addicts.”

Thinking of clowns like this hiding behind trees, waiting for someone to murder really turns one's stomach. How evil does the NRA need to be to condone handing monsters tools so they can slaughter humans in large numbers? How long does this have to continue?
