MOUNTAIN VIEW -- President Barack Obama arrived at Moffett Field on Thursday afternoon and greeted an enthusiastic invitation-only crowd in advance of his Friday speech at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit at Stanford.
Rep. Anna Eshoo, D-Palo Alto, accompanied Obama down the stairs as he disembarked from Air Force One after the plane touched down at 5:06 p.m.
On the tarmac, the president was greeted by Dave Cortese, president of the Santa Clara County Board of Supervisors; San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo; Sunnyvale Mayor Glenn Hendricks; and Mountain View Mayor Pat Showalter.
The crowd of over 50 guests awaiting Obama's arrival included April Katherman and her two sons, Josh and Jason -- the family of San Jose motorcycle officer Michael Katherman, who was killed in a traffic collision last week. More than 1,000 officers from around the state traveled to San Jose to pay their respects to Katherman during his memorial service Tuesday at SAP Center.
