(17,004 posts)9 states wanted a roll-call vote. The chair did a voice vote on denying the roll call and said the 'ayes have it' and former Senator Gordon Humphrey said 'they might not be fascists, but they are acting like fascists'. And there we go...

(10,115 posts)and there is nothing ambiguous about that....he is flat out calling them fascists.

(17,004 posts)The Senator and others seemed really surprised they got shut out. So many chickens coming home to roost.

(19,095 posts)They needed 7 states to force a roll call vote.
By not allowing a roll call vote the leadership broke their own rules.

Notify PAO, PD, and utilities.
Prepare to evacuate surrounding buildings.
Stay tuned. Film at Eleven.

(10,857 posts)I cannot recommend anything more highly than the Twitch.tv broadcast, where the live viewer comments are a never-ending stream of cynical one-liners.

Turns out that Democrats can type much faster than Republicans, and with far more acerbic wit.
"What are they shouting?"
"Build a moat! Build a moat!"
Then, when they took the group picture:
"Let's play Where's Waldo, only with black people."
"This is how I want to remember Evil America."

(94,679 posts)The GOP is stating that Minnesota, Iowa, Washington, D.C. and Maine were the delegations that removed themselves from the roll call/Dump Trump vote, according to NBC. The Trump opponents reject that any delegations backed off.
"There is no precedent for this in parliamentary procedure," said Utah Sen. Mike Lee. "There is no precedent for this in the rules of the Republican National Convention. We are now in uncharted territory. Somebody owes us an explanation."

(30,754 posts)played the C-Span clip of the chaos. It is a bit under seventeen minutes long. Since, I was still doing some housework, I went back to cleaning the bathroom. I had my CD player on in the next room, away from the computer. There was an eclectic mix of music, everything from Mendelssohn to ACDC. Guess what came up first? "Highway to Hell." I kid you not.
