NFL denies it sent Trump a letter over debate schedule

Source: The Hill

Donald Trump, who has started to voice complaints about the presidential debate schedule, said the National Football league sent him a letter protesting the dates that overlapped with games. But the NFL Saturday said that's not true.

"While we'd obviously wish the Debate Commission could find another night, we did not send a letter to Mr Trump," a spokesman for the organization said.

Jul 2016

The debates are set up by the Commission on Presidential Debates, a non-partisan committee comprised of Democrats, Republicans, and Independents formed in 1987 to guarantee that every election included debates between the major candidates.

The debate rules / schedule were set out more than a year ago by a nonpartisan commission.

Also, we have had debates scheduled in the past opposite NFL games and no one complained then... at least until now.

with a "kickoff." Points can be scored by kicking field goals and extra points. Players run the ball with their feet and they run using their feet after they catch a pass. The defense uses its feet to run after and tackle whoever has the ball.
Feet are an important component of the game.

Soccer in the USA is gaining popularity very slowly outside of World Cup years, but its been steady. Globall "football" / "futbol" is an entertaining game that if more AMericans viewed as more analogous to baseball than to the NFL / NCAA football might just gain more popularity still.

I still believe that the USWNT is a superior product to the USMNT in that aside from being more accomplished internationally, the USWNT also plays an eminently more watchable style of play. The recent Gold Cup loss to Argentina by the USMNT was disgraceful to watch...no imagination, no attacking, no shots on goal...they looked scared and played scared and got annihilated as a result. More than any cultural aversion to the game or anything else, performances like THAT on the world stage are why soccer remains "soccer" in the USA and Football remains king...

First, the DNC had an amazing convention and even the "issues" they had seemed to be resolved fairly quickly. Then his desire for a YUGE bounce out of his Convention was not the way he wanted. Like the petulant little boy he is, he is having a hissy fit. Lashing out is his way of dealing with anything he deems to be an insult. tRump in the Oval Office is a nightmare we can't afford to risk. We all need to redouble our efforts to make sure he is buried in a landslide of Hillary votes.

His latest lie about a nonexistent letter from the NFL is typical. He thinks no one will check up on it and even if they do, NO ONE WILL CARE. Among his core voters, he is right. For the rest of the electorate, it's just another reason to not vote for this sick, deluded man/child.

He'd be at his very most crazed and erratic during a Trump presidency.

But, whatever he does during the debate, I'm pretty sure he won't earn my vote.

As far as "undecided voters" go, well, I don't know any. A few of my friends are die-hard Trump supporters, and I can't change their minds. So I encourage them to vote their conscience on Tuesday, Nov 15.

..................Brian McCarthy (@NFLprguy) July 30, 2016

Trump, in an interview with ABC News earlier this week, complained about the three presidential debates, two of which are scheduled for the same night as NFL games.

"I'll tell you what I don't like," Trump said. "It's against two NFL games. I got a letter from the NFL saying, 'This is ridiculous.'"

"I don't think we should be against the NFL," he went on. "I don't know how the dates are picked."..............................

.................On Friday, Trump, who once skipped a Republican primary debate after a tiff with one of the Fox News moderators, also tweeted out an accusation that "Hillary & the Dems" were attempting to "rig the debates" with the scheduling:

As usual, Hillary & the Dems are trying to rig the debates so 2 are up against major NFL games. Same as last time w/ Bernie. Unacceptable!.........................
