Trump admits he didn't see nonexistent Iran money video

Source: Politico

Donald Trump did something unusual Friday: He admitted he was wrong.
"The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!" the Republican nominee tweeted, a day after he doubled down on his claim that he had seen footage of a plane unloading money on the same day the Iranian government released four American prisoners in January.

Everyone today was talking about how this was a hugely (intended) missed opportunity for don the con. That the story was being overshadowed by his lie. I'm wondering if he's getting calls saying "take it back, admit you were wrong or I'm pulling my endorsement".

Donald Trump has finally admitted he got something wrong. After publicly declaring multiple times this week that he had seen “top-secret” footage of a plane unloading money the same day the Iranian government released four American detainees, the Republican presidential nominee finally admitted that video does not exist. “The plane I saw on television was the hostage plane in Geneva, Switzerland, not the plane carrying $400 million in cash going to Iran!” he tweeted early Friday. Trump initially told a crowd Wednesday that he’d seen the nonexistent video—footage he claimed was filmed by the Iranian government to “embarrass” the United States. The next day, however, Trump’s own spokeswoman said the video was actually of prisoners being released. Nevertheless, Trump doubled down, again repeating the claim even after it had been debunked by his own campaign

2. Mr. Jetset should know full well that you can't load pallets onto that kind of plane

Let alone enough pallets for $400 million

his first statement that he actually saw the plane, pallats and money - as he has repeated that a couple of times. They won't take the time or effort to see his retraction.

The damage has been done - just like a retraction buried in the back of a newspaper a day or two later after they make mistake.

6. Who finally got to him? Even his own campaign publicly disowned the claim as he doubled down on it.

Now that Trump has finally backed down on an untruth, the pundits at CNN can't stop talking about it.

Now, about those thousands of Muslims you you say you saw cheering 9/11, Mr. Trump...

They still argue that he is better than Hillary. The man runs off at the mouth without thinking. Unbelievable.

He insanely confabulated an entire story with facts, backstory and intrigue from a few seconds of video that had nothing to do with it.

This is something crazy that you might laugh at when a child does it but this is a 69 year old man.

And yes as someone earlier pointed out, this is just what he did with the cheering crowds in NJ.

They both have wings, tails, engines, generally painted white, rows of windows, a large ID painted on them. Who's to say? Confusing that with a red Delta, say, is another story. And if the name isn't painted on in gold, why, they, they all look the same. Hell, he even confuses his own plane with Air Force One.

that we don't even consider whether this makes his run impossible.

He would literally have to eat a live animal on stage to be disqualified as a candidate at this point.

And it would have to be very cute and very furry.
