Former Maine senator says he’s ‘appalled’ by Trump’s remarks

Source: Bangor Daily News

LEWISTON, Maine — Former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Maine U.S. Sen. Bill Cohen has joined a growing list of Republicans criticizing GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump’s recent performance.

Appearing on BBC television this week, Cohen said he was “appalled” by Trump’s criticism of the Khan family “and the way he said it.” The Khans are the parents of a Muslim American soldier who was awarded a Purple Heart after being killed in combat in Iraq. They were invited to speak about their son at the Democratic National Convention.

“For him to, No. 1, criticize Mr. [Khizr] Khan by suggesting that Hillary Clinton may have written his speech, and, No. 2, to go after Mrs. [Ghazala] Khan and indicate her silence must be telling us something. Maybe she can’t talk. Maybe Sharia law. I thought it was beneath anyone to do that,” Cohen said.

When asked by the BBC host whether he had ever seen a politician attack the family of an American soldier before, Cohen said he has not. He said Trump has repeatedly violated unspoken rules not to embarrass the handicapped, not to attack prisoners of war and to never, ever criticize a Gold Star mother such as Ghazala Khan.

Trums crossed the line with this lie...

“We’ve just seen many, many crimes, getting worse all the time. And as Maine knows — a major destination for Somali refugees,” he said.

Crime in Lewiston Maine has declined by 23% since the Somali refugees arrived.

Fucking racist liar

Years of chronic fraud, libel and slander, suing and defrauding good people into financial ruin, and thousands of comments otherwise far beyond the bounds of decency weren't too bad for this politician, but lying about crime in Maine is unacceptable -- after the rush for the doors has begun.

Uhuh. Sauve qui peut.

He went after John McCain before. He will do anything and say anything. He has NO filter.
Nobody is safe from the buffoon. If Republicans don't realize that they are stupid. And you cannot fix stupid. I think they are the party of stupid.

Possibly most respected Republican here, Snowe / Collins lagging behind.
State Sen. Roger Katz (R) also denounced Trump today.
Cheeto is getting quick fried to a delicate crunch here in Maine.
