Russia is strengthening Crimea's coastal guard with new arms – Ukraine's Border Service

Source: Ukraine Today

The Russian Federation continues to amplify sea guard divisions of Federal Security Forces (FSB) border unit in Crimea.

"On July 30, two border guard cruisers ‘Sobol' were transported to the Crimean city of Balaklava from the ship-building plant ‘Almaz', St. Petersburg", Oleh Slobodian, spokesman for Ukraine's Border Service, said on August 4.

Ukraine's Border Service previously reported that Russia brought military equipment and personnel from Krasnodar region to the administrative border in occupied Crimea.

Ukrainian boats or ships. Some of the Ukr boats were for fishing, some were pleasure boats, some were coast guard.

Some have come under fire. A couple have caught fire and burned.

Nobody's claimed that any of them were in clearly Russian waters. Some were in clearly Ukrainian waters.

You're right--how dare Ukraine taunt Russian forces by having pleasure or fishing boats in Ukrainian waters. Why, the next thing might be hosting Ukrainian forces on Ukrainian territory, or speaking the languages of long-standing in the Ukraine. That would be truly offensive and might even be seen as justifying a military incursion to protect the Pure and Righteous from having their delicate sensibilities offended by--gasp--hearing Ukrainian or Tatar.

Bravo! To get from overly aggressive Russian coastal patrols to Russian xenophobia over merely hearing Ukrainian spoken so smoothly is truly a thing to behold!

Reading that made me feel as if I were actually there back in the 1950's. Superb job!

Invading parts of neighboring countries may have been OK in the 1930's, but nowadays it doesn't work.

Thing is Crimea was annexed to Ukraine in 1954 with no consideration to what Crimean's wanted. Crimea has been colonized by Russians for over two hundred years, it is their territory and they are not giving it up without nuclear war.
