Trump Campaign Will Air First General Election Ads This Week
Source: Talking Points Memo
The Donald Trump campaign will finally start airing general election ads on Friday, as Hillary Clinton has already spent $61 million on general election television advertising.
Trump campaign staff told several members of Congress on a Tuesday conference call that the campaign would start airing television ads in the battleground states of Florida, Ohio, North Carolina and Pennsylvania, the Wall Street Journal reported. Trump staff reportedly said that the campaign will begin airing even more ads in September.
Trump's campaign has lagged significantly in getting general election ads up on the airwaves, and had spent nothing on television ads up until now. Meanwhile, the Clinton campaign has been spending on general election advertising for the past two months.
Outside groups supporting Trump have aired television ads, but they have only spent $12.4 million, according to NBC News. Outside groups backing Clinton have spent $43 million on ads, per NBC.

(10,252 posts)I'm in Texas, but I'll probably see them on my DirecTV channels. I fully expect them to be enormous lies and big fat super slimey. I'm already seeing the with Bill Clinton never having had sex with Monica. How Trump expects those types of ads to persuade independents is a mystery to me. I guess we'll see a big scarey guy wearing a turban and sporting a beard and an assault rifle chasing little kiddies and grandmas down the street.
