Rio Paralympics 2016: Games to go ahead with major budget cuts

Source: BBC

The Paralympic Games will take place as planned next month, but face major budget cuts, the International Paralympic Committee has announced.

The cuts will be made to venues, the workforce and transport.

Delayed travel grants will now be paid to athletes, but 10 countries may struggle to get teams to Rio.

"Never before in the 56-year history of the Paralympic Games have we faced circumstances like this," said IPC president Sir Philip Craven.

With 19 days to the start of the Games, the IPC says Rio's organising committee has not raised enough money to fund the Paralympics.

A guy from here in Sheboygan, who will be their "sports chiropractor."

I'm not making this up!

"Dr" Joel Dekanich.

At the Olympics, there were athletes who had a quack "medical treatment" called "cupping."

So not to be outdone, a quack will be getting money for doing chiropractic.

The people paying the quack are not the people who have run out of money.

The daughter of a friend of mine is going to compete. I was worried when I saw earlier articles about cuts.

She really deserves to compete, she's really good. Paratriathalon and 100 & 200 meter races.

It will all be a disaster, criminals will kill, kidnap and rape everybody, Zika virus will cause an Apocalyspe, monsters will come out of the feces and sewage of Guanabara bay, there will be terrorist attacks, etc, etc, etc.

We know the script. Wake me up when it happens.
