Flint Pastor Stops Trump's Clinton-Bashing: This Isn't A 'Political Speech'
Source: Talking Points Memo
A pastor interrupted Donald Trump during a last-minute appearance in Flint, Michigan as he veered off in a speech to attack his opponent, Hillary Clinton, reminding him he was not invited to give a "political" speech.
Trump focused much of his speech on the economy and the Flint water crisis, tying outsourcing to the problem of high lead levels in the drinking water there.
"It used to be cars were made in Flint and you couldn't drink the water in Mexico," he said. "Now the cars are made in Mexico and you can't drink the water in Flint." Trump went on to slam the North American Free Trade Agreement and Bill and Hillary Clinton. Then Rev. Faith Green Timmons walked up to the lectern and interrupted Trump, telling him that wasn't what he was there to speak about.
"China now, you look at what is going on, a trade deficit of $500 billion. Hillary failed on the economy just like she's failed on foreign policy, everything she touched didn't work outnothing. Hillary Clinton"

(26,295 posts)Somehow I don't think it is too hard to throw him off of his bluster because I suspect, at his core, he is very cowardly. The bluster is his facade.
Or, perhaps I am over analyzing.

(26,295 posts)With the emphasis on 'I think'. Nothing would surprise me, where the Flint Water Crisis is concerned but I think lead, and not methane, was the issue.
That being said, I have a well, and considering how many auto plants we had in Flint, it's a wonder any of our ground water is safe. I buy 3 gallon jugs of purified water, for drinking, and use a Brita filter for everything else.

(26,295 posts)Their pollution levels, air, ground and water, are incredibly low. I was probably never healthier, in my life, than when I was living there.

(26,295 posts)I enlisted in the Navy, and was stationed in Iceland. When I got out of the Navy I headed back to Flint to help out with family issues, got a good job, and just stayed, for the job and continuing family needs. Last year I took an early retirement because after losing half of my family in a 8 month period (my sister and then my mom, and lastly my aunt) I decided life is just too short, so I need to start enjoying myself.
I am living in the township, now, but am right outside of the city limits.
I really, really do love the city of Flint. No matter where I end up living, it will always be my home.

(129,543 posts)So apparently long-time black GOP operative Armstrong Williams set this up.
And just found confirmation -
A few dozen supporters lined the street adjacent to the airport as Trumps SUV whisked him away, but as he traveled through Flint, African-American residents stood in front of their homes watching Trump's motorcade go by. One pointed to the windshield of his car and the Obama-Biden sign hed placed there as Trump pulled into the church.
Across the street, 100 more people lined the sidewalk and held Clinton and Obama signs.
In a statement, Reverend Green-Timmons made it clear to the media that she welcomed Trump because her church welcomes all people and cherished the opportunity to remind the nation about the crisis her city is coping with. Trumps presence at Bethel Methodist in no way represents an endorsement of his candidacy, she said.

It must be chewing him up inside.

(1,254 posts)Over forty million TAX dollars were spent trying to clean up TOXIC laden rivers in Michigan, the source depended upon for their drinking water and they still can't provide safe drinking water because the delivery system (water pipes), is now polluting the clean water.
