Trump blows off debate tune-up

Source: Poltico

The format was nothing like what Trump will face in St Louis, when half the questions will be posed by uncommitted voters, and the candidates will have two minutes to respond to each question as Martha Raddatz of ABC and Anderson Cooper of CNN serve as moderators.

On Thursday night, Howie Carr, a conservative radio host and Trump booster, played the role of moderator, and the crowd was hand-picked by his campaign. The audience didn’t even ask Trump their questions. Carr did so on their behalf. Before the event, Carr had said Trump would take 20 questions. He stayed for about a dozen.

And while Sunday’s debate will stretch for 90 minutes without a bathroom break, Trump bolted from his town hall in Sandown after barely more than one-third of that time.

Trump’s campaign did place a two-minute countdown clock in front of their candidate on Thursday. He repeatedly blew past that time limit anyway.

Yet even without the duress of an opponent, independent moderators and anything but softball questions from supporters, Trump struggled to drive any type of cohesive message, either about himself as a change agent or Clinton’s shortcomings.

He now appears headed into Sunday’s debate in St. Louis at Washington University without similar preparation for the town-hall format that could be even more grueling. On the trail, Trump has largely eschewed town halls in favor of large-scale rallies where he now almost exclusively relies upon a teleprompter. He has also, for the most part, avoided media interviews with all but the friendliest national reporters and the local press.

So he expects it.
A very telling moment earlier this year after trump won the primaries.
A reporter asked him about going forward about the "legacy of the GOP" and "inheriting the mantle of leadership of the party."
Trump immediately blew up at the reporter and said.
"I didn't inherit it. I won it. It's mine."
There is/was nothing before Trump in his mind, only Trump now and forever.
There is no Party of Lincoln, just the Party of Trump. So he can do with it whatever he wants.
He's a psycho.

I think he's just not mentally capable. He lacks the patience, temperment, intellegence, and humility to prepare for anything likes this. He wants to be American Putin, but thinks he can simply will his way into that sort of power because he's Donald Trump.

It wouldn't do him any good to prep, as he can't really concentrate, he's never had to, he has always had people to do things for him, he's never had to do anything at all. It wouldn't be surprising to learn his dad paid teachers for grades, or hired someone to go to classes for him, and take tests, like the Walton (Walmart) heiress did for university credit.

No one has ever accused him of being "too smart for his own good." You can see the lack of intelligence in his eyes. If someone tried to put him through his paces, he wouldn't be able to remember it, anyway. Like Palin. They both, instead, have chosen to hurl insults and lies at their opponents, to come out swinging, and try to keep people from realizing how profoundly stupid they are.

After Trump gave him a tour of his marble-and-gilt apartment atop Trump Tower—which, to Schwartz, looked unlived-in, like the lobby of a hotel—they began to talk. But the discussion was soon hobbled by what Schwartz regards as one of Trump’s most essential characteristics: “He has no attention span.”

as a viable candidate. I fully expect that he will bluster and brag and blast out distopic hyperbole, while Clinton quietly lets him show us once again how unstable and unfit he is. I don't think that he will go the Bill's sex scandal route, because he's really a coward at heart. But I could be wrong on that point. Trump is toast, my friends.
