Republican Trump says 70 percent of federal regulations 'can go'

Source: MSN/Reuters

NEW YORK, Oct 6 (Reuters) - U.S. Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said as many as 70 percent of federal agency regulations could be eliminated if he is elected in November, just hours after an adviser said the candidate would seek to cut 10 percent.

Trump, who blamed regulations for stifling business, told a crowd at a town hall event in New Hampshire on Thursday night that regulations for the environment and safety would remain.

"We are cutting the regulation at a tremendous clip. I would say 70 percent of regulations can go," Trump said. "It's just stopping businesses from growing."

Earlier in the day during an online discussion with Reuters, Trump campaign adviser Anthony Scaramucci, a Wall Street financier who has raised campaign money for Trump, said Trump would eliminate 10 percent of regulations.

And then we'll find out why they were enacted in the first place. But maybe that's a healthy exercise in a democracy.

I'm old enough to remember a time before many of the regulations we have now re: insurance, banking, civil rights, clean air, water and food, drugs, investments, medical care, employee benefits and rights, utilities, etc., etc., etc., were enacted. Life is better now for all, except those who want to profit by taking advantage of others.

Which should we do away with? As with vaccinations, those who have no memory of why they were created in the first place think they have no value.

Yup, Trump is a genius: businesses can make much more profit if they don't have to worry about killing people.

He opposes regulation of business but supports regulation of people. Which reminds me: what happened to his plan for Muslim ID cards and a tracking database?

That Trump specifically mentioned 'safety' regulations as one category that could do with a 70% haircut.

So he proposes to abandon workplace safety pretty much entirely.

If you're a workingman, Trump wants you dead, because safety procedures are 'inconvenient.'

One the Reich-wingers just love:

William Roper: Yes, I'd cut down every law in England to do that!

Sir Thomas More: Oh? And when the last law was down, and the Devil turned 'round on you, where would you hide, Roper, the laws all being flat? This country is planted thick with laws, from coast to coast, Man's laws, not God's! And if you cut them down, and you're just the man to do it, do you really think you could stand upright in the winds that would blow then? Yes, I'd give the Devil benefit of law, for my own safety's sake!

Change "Roper" to "Trump" and read it again.

it would be yuuuuuuuuuuuuge if he had to stop events cause he could not stop pooping

regulations do not grow in a vacuum they come about because something bad happened and a fix was needed.

yes they should be reviewed yes perhaps some can go

but do we really want to trust corporations not to put profit over honesty and not screw us?
