Poll: GOP voters standing behind Trump after lewd comments

Source: The Hill

A new poll shows a large majority of Republican voters is standing behind Donald Trump after a tape surfaced showing the party’s nominee making lewd comments about women in 2005.

Almost three-quarters of Republicans, 74 percent, said GOP leaders should still back Trump, according to a Politico/Morning Consult poll released Sunday morning.

Twelve percent of all Republican voters said Trump should end his campaign, pollsters found. Thirteen percent of female Republicans said he should drop out.

Seventy percent of Democrats, meanwhile, said Trump should leave the race.

I am deeply offended that Hillary said half of his supporters are deplorables.

She seriously understated the 74 percent who would be fine with their nominee bragging about how he got away with sex assaults.

4. That's why they are deplorable

I heard an interview a couple of days ago with a couple in Ohio. The guy was a life-long factory worker who had always voted for Democrats. He and his wife said they were thinking seriously about voting for Trum. This was really bizarre. The reporter asked about one issue after another. In each case, the couple seemed to agree with the position Clinton has on the issue.

Until the reporter said "what about immigration?"

Ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding-ding

These people were racists and xenophobes, plain and simple. And there are millions like them. We aren't going to change that. We have a country full of racists, and ironically, Obama's presidency has emboldened them to come out in public as if that was not a deplorable thing. I don't know this is anything new. It has been there since the beginning of the country. But it looks to me like we may be living among 25% hard core racists and xenophobes. I am not sure we have made such a lot of progress since the Civil War.

I thought Obama in the presidency would have the opposite effect and calm down the racism, but in face has morphed it into a movement. It's very sad our society is so unenlightened and so easily manipulated by hitler-esc type maneuvers by those in the GOP and the KKK.

The electorate available to the GOP is:

10% of of the voters who are dumbassess failing the "You aren't in the 1%. Why do you vote as if you were?" rule

10% hard core racists, still carrying the baggage of the Civil War

10% equal opportunity racists that don't just hate blacks, but are fearful of Mexicans, Muslims, Asians, and all the other "them"s

10% religious and gun wackos

1% that actually benefit from Republican policies and values

To win a national election they need every one of these groups to turn out in high numbers. They simply cannot afford to drop any of these groups.

They don't love him in spite of the horrible things that he says and does; they love him because of the horrible things that he says and does.

Perhaps the one true statement that Trump has made during his campaign is that he could shoot someone in the street and his supporters would still vote for him. He and his supporters have proven this claim again and again and again.

She hates HRC with a visceral passion and that's what this is about to her. She watches Faux so thinks Hillary is responsible for Benghazi and thinks she shared national secrets via her email. In other words, she's a political idiot and would be sooo shocked if drumpf was elected and turned into the Hitler I think he would be. Of course, this wouldn't be her fault, she's perfect, it's Hillarys' for making her hate her. that's how deep repug delusion runs. I csn't talk to her about this, she'd see my total disdain and fire me, that's how she rolls.

Maybe I'll try attending a Trump rally (if he has any more) and start grabbing the private parts of each woman I see, if they think that is such acceptable behavior.

If they object, I'll just explain, "Hey, I'm rich and famous. I can do this."

How far do you think I'd get with that?

1,549 registered voters, with 1,390 likely voters. Yet they have lost Utah for sure, Hillary is taking the lead in most of the swing states, 26% of theses they did survey aren't going to be voting for him, we still have plenty of time for more stuff to come out, and it will. Trump is tweeting all kinds of crap about the republicans who are not standing by him, so many of his voters are NOT going to vote down ticket when they vote, because they are pissed at them for not standing behind their sick piece of crap candidate, and tonight we get another debate where Trump is going to make things even worse.

I don't see anything positive for republicans at all. Looks like a pretty good morning to me!

With Trump support of merely a plurality of what's left of the GOP base, the fact that "three-quarters of Republicans" still support Trump indicates that the real number of republicans in the country is small -- certainly too small to win any national election. In other words, the GOP base of bigots, xenophobes, white supremacists, misogynists and billionaires, is lucky to hit 30% of the voting public. But the media can't admit this fact because, in order to fill their ad slots, they have to create "drama."

Or are you suggesting that they hate themselves and vote against themselves? If so, that's interesting, and not completely out of the question.

The knuckle dragger takeover of the Republican Party is complete. There is no room left there for ideological conservatism. Gone are the days of the intellectual republican. They have all been shunted to the side by the aging backwoods yokels who follow personally instead of principle.

Of course what we are really watching is a party in its death throwes. The party has crawled out onto the weakest limb of the evolutionary tree of democracy and are busy sawing it off. Voting for and backing Trump Is now the litmus test for self centered stupidity, hate in its many flavors, and fear of all things modern.

They don't want their country back, they want their buggy whips and plantation slaves back.

good ISIS members. They are most extreme and maybe would like Trump to grope them. Women are more radical and say things more extreme than the males do. So i know why so many women join ISIS. Just look at all the female spokes persons on TV for Trump. Most are radical women and supports anything Donald says or does. We have Katrina Pierson, Kellyanne Conway, Most of the GOP female politicians in House/senate, they all support Trump. What surprises me most are Ralph Reid and the so called men of GOD. They said they support Trump no matter what he says or does. Are they really men of GOD or the DEVIL.
