Top Hispanic Republican in Texas says he will vote for Clinton

A leading Hispanic Republican in Texas says he has decided to vote for Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Lionel Sosa, a veteran ad maker from San Antonio, told The Texas Tribune on Monday he will cast his ballot for Clinton to send a "clear statement" against Republican nominee Donald Trump's candidacy.
"I want to make sure that I do everything I can to see that Trump doesnt get elected," said Sosa, who has worked for Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush. "I'm doing this because I don't think he's a good representative of the Republican Party. It's not the Republican Party I know." .................

the exact same Republican party as it was 10, 20, 30 and 40+ years ago the only change is Trump is completely open and not trying to pretend to be anything else than the candidate that the Republicans nominated.

(138 posts)Hispanics down here generally have their heads buried in the sand. I say this as a Hispanic who, I'm ashamed to admit, was once a republican himself. It wasn't until I moved from south Texas to Austin that I actually opened my eyes and began thinking for myself. As I see it, we democrats have to mobilize the Hispanic community into the powerful voting block it should be. With this segment of the population having remained largely silent over the decades, it's no surprise that Texas has become the stagnant and regressive prototype for republican politics.
