Icelanders are voting Saturday in a snap election that polls show could propel the populist Pirate Party into a ruling coalition after the sitting conservative government became tainted by the Panama Papers scandal.

Voting is due to start at 9 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. local time. Preliminary results aren’t expected until late into the night.

Iceland’s election is taking place against the backdrop of rising populism across the western world and what Allianz SE chief economic adviser Mohamed El-Erian called spreading disruptions from the “politics of anger."

Surveys published in the final days of the election campaign point to a defeat for the ruling conservative alliance and victory for opposition parties spearheaded by the Pirate Party and the Left-Green Movement.

Honestly, how does anyone know at all, especially when it comes to Wikileaks and Julian Assange if it's not purposely including altered and false info. Especially when false things can be mixed with truth?

Because of that question and real possibility, I look at where info is coming from and ask myself who has to gain from this. Iceland and it's progressive government did some bold things, especially economically. They went against some big powers. So now they are being punished. And the rise of the "Pirate party" is fascinating. Iceland is not very large but there are a lot of forces behind what is going on and I don't know who or why, but it is hard to discern what is real and the truth.
