Homeland Security Chairman: Clinton Could Be Impeached If Elected

Source: Talking Points Memo

The chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee warned Wednesday on Fox News that Hillary Clinton could be impeached if she were elected, essentially delegitimizing Clinton before Election Day.

Reacting to the FBI's announcement last week that it was reviewing a newly discovered batch of emails related to Clinton's use of a private email server as secretary of state, Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX) was emphatic that impeachment would proceed if a criminal indictment of Clinton appeared imminent.

"This investigation will continue whether she wins or not, but assuming she wins and the investigation goes forward, and it looks like an indictment is pending, at that point of time in the Constitution, the House of Representatives would engage in an impeachment trial," McCaul said referring to a House investigation into Clinton's e-mails. "It would go to the Senate, and impeachment proceedings and removal would take place."

McCaul then went on to compare Clinton to Richard Nixon who resigned from the White House rather than face impeachment.

OK, if McCaul is this much of a fanatic, he should not be HHSC. Why is he into Hillary's emails-as-high-crimes instead of investigating those who would harm US, i.e. terrorists and frauds, foreign and domestic?

This guy is like Bush out there clearing brush in TX while Richard Clark was running around Washington trying to get a meeting with Condi or Bushit or anyone high up. The idiots wouldn't listen.

for trial. Reason was our patriot Larry Flynt of Hustler Magazine started researching and publishing about the sex lives of the repug impeachers. So at the end of the House "impeachment," even the House idiot repukes were wanting the thing to go away. Of course, they now tout their "impeachment" of Pres. Clinton as a great accomplishment.

And all this over a frigging blowjob.

The Republicans never had the two thirds majority to remove Clinton from office, but the trial did indeed go to the Senate, where even Strom Thurmond told his fellow Republicans that they had nowhere near the two thirds majority to convict Clinton and remove him from office. He therefore told them to get the circus over with ASAP to avoid further embarrassment.

Chief House Inquisitor Henry Hyde, himself guilty of adultery ("youthful indiscretions," he put it when referring to himself), led the whole farce, when he knew perfectly well that his persecution of Clinton would end as nothing more than a footnote to history.

His seat is secure because it extends out from very blue northwest Austin
out to extremely red Katy, TX. Thus the voters in the rural areas and

One that I have contemplated would add a sour twist to this election.

Supposing the right succeeds in destabilizing Clinton's campaign and while using the normal GOP voter suppression and polling place games they have used in the past, actually win the electoral college while retaining the Senate and the House; they then proceed to impeach Trump, leaving Vice President elect Pence to take the reins with SC seats in his pocket for the next four years. Not likely, but certainly not impossible either.

More likely is that Clinton will prevail but with the broken momentum of the last week democrats will be unable to retake either house of congress and she will not be able to govern with the usual obstructionism.

Unlike many on this board, I think what has been allowed to happen this past week has very seriously interrupted momentum and has probably cost the democratic party many down ballot seats. It is a travesty, and every bit as serious as the 2000 theft.

Hope I'm wrong, but I have seen the people stampeded too many times before.

Go ahead McCaul, keep showing how desperate you are. All it really does is build voters resolve against you and your party.

A Veteran Spy Has Given the FBI Information Alleging a Russian Operation to Cultivate Donald Trump

Mother Jones has reviewed that report and other memos this former spy wrote. The first memo, based on the former intelligence officer's conversations with Russian sources, noted, "Russian regime has been cultivating, supporting and assisting TRUMP for at least 5 years. Aim, endorsed by PUTIN, has been to encourage splits and divisions in western alliance." It maintained that Trump "and his inner circle have accepted a regular flow of intelligence from the Kremlin, including on his Democratic and other political rivals." It claimed that Russian intelligence had "compromised" Trump during his visits to Moscow and could "blackmail him." It also reported that Russian intelligence had compiled a dossier on Hillary Clinton based on "bugged conversations she had on various visits to Russia and intercepted phone calls."

NO PRESIDENT TO DATE IN OUR HISTORY HAS EVER BEEN REMOVED FROM OFFICE BY IMPEACHMENT. For the GOP to suggest this now is for one purpose only.....TO GET ELECTED OR RE-ELECTED which ever the case may be. The House passes a resolution to draw up articles of impeachment but it is the responsibility of the Senate to hear the case, draw a conclusion and then vote ON whether to IMPEACH. To remove a President requires a 2/3rd's vote of the Senate. A very difficult number to reach although a previous President was ACQUITED by one vote. Even if the Senate reached a consensus for a POTUS to be removed, Tim Kaine/VP would take Hillary's place.

These are not even Clinton's emails. Second there is no indication of any indictable offense. Third it takes a 2/3rds majority of the Senate to actually remove from office and that won't happen under any circumstances. Fourth Nixon resigned because it was very evident that he was going to be impeached and that there were ample votes to remove in the Senate. His own party would have removed Nixon.

This guy is talking out of his ass. Sadly this ignorant assclown is what stupid Republicans send to congress.
