1 officer killed, 1 in critical condition; Manhunt underway

An Americus police officer was killed and Georgia Southwestern State University public safety officer was listed in "very, very critical" condition after a shooting near the GSW State University campus in Americus Tuesday morning. A massive manhunt is underway for the gunman, identified by police as Minguell Lembrick.

According to Americus Police Chief Mark Scott, the Americus officer was responding to a domestic call at an apartment complex near the GSW State campus. A GSW officer heard the call and also responded as a backup to the officer.

2. If nothing else, I hope trump will do something about the police killings

The situation is completely out of hand and seems to be getting worse. Not sure trump will do anything about it though. All talk that he is.

are mostly aimed at nonviolent possession/use, and at the least misused types of guns. Officers' families and friends are often among those who would be criminalized by gun/magazine bans. And probably because launching a War-on-Drugs-style "War on Gun Owners" would make things worse, not better, with regard to violent felons.

I suspect a majority of officers like background checks, and like licensure for carry; gun and magazine bans aimed at the otherwise law-abiding, not so much. A whole lot of officers have spoken out against the recent NY SAFE Act and said they will not enforce it.
