Graham Signals He Won't Vote For Tillerson If He Rejects Russia Sanctions

Source: Talking Points Memo

By ESME CRIBB Published DECEMBER 15, 2016, 12:10 PM EDT

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) suggested in a Thursday interview that his vote to confirm Rex Tillerson as President-elect Donald Trump's secretary of state will depend on the ExxonMobil CEO's position on imposing new sanctions on Russia.

In an appearance on Fox News' "America's Newsroom," Graham said that he would have a "very hard" time voting to confirm Tillerson if he does not support new sanctions on Russia.

"It comes down to this for Mr. Tillerson with me. I want you to be briefed by the FBI and CIA about what Russia did in our election and what they're doing all over the world and I want you to come forward and say whether or not you believe they interfered in our elections, they are interfering in other democracies, and if you say they are not, I will be troubled by your judgment," Graham said. "If you say they are, then what are you going to do about it."

He called for sanctions on Putin "as an individual and his inner circle," and said he did not regret imposing sanctions on Russia in 2014, which Tillerson opposed.

he can come and say anything, just to get the confirmation.

And to go on faux noise to say anything is just that more self serving BS, why don't you go on Free Speech TV and answer the questions, expand your horizon.

Where were you when Comey did what he did, you are on the intelligence committee, and now your coming out on this-------------really. You were briefed on the hacks back in September and what did you do, drink a beer?

Why, don't you in your infinite wisdom of BS, bring Steve Coll into the hearing and enter into evidence Private Empire (Exxon/Mobil), so that everyone can get the full meaning of who is the government, and its not me the voter. What is Tillerson thoughts on the Exxon Valdez?
Or how about how reindeer are vanishing in the tundra because the ground is frozen by rain and they can't break the ice to get at the tundra lichen to survive?

But he wants to go into the Arctic to do what with the ice mass, horizontal or vertical drilling, or better yet on pipelines that break and contaminate water and land to be unusable.

But drilling is fine if you can get sanctions-----------really, and you make how much off the air force and the taxpayers being a senator? Its really to much.

The sanctions against Russia for its hostile acts against Ukraine are in place because Obama and Kerry arm-twisted our European allies to go along with them. All Tillerson has to say is yes, I will keep the sanctions in place, but then do nothing behind the scenes to keep the Europeans on board. Indeed, he might even connive in secret with EU countries to let them lapse. Then, when the sanctions collapse, he can blame the Europeans. I hope Graham is smart enough to realize this.

And installing Tillerson as Secretary Of State means that Russia will not just get a slap on the wrist, they'll most likely be exonerated because Tillerson is more interested in protecting his pocketbook than America.
