FBI director under pressure to explain Clinton bombshell
Source: The Hill
Six weeks since Hillary Clintons surprise loss in the presidential election, FBI Director James Comey is under pressure to justify the bombshell announcement that rocked the final days of the campaign.
...
Several former FBI officials told The Hill they had heard Comey is now weighing a possible press appearance after Trump is inaugurated on Jan. 20 to tell his side of the story.
...
Eleven days before the election, Comey shocked the political world with a letter informing Congress that investigators had discovered new emails that could be relevant to its probe, then considered completed, of Clintons private email server while she was secretary of State.
Comey for months passionately defended the integrity of the probe first against Republicans when he declined to recommend charges against Clinton in the first place, and more recently against Democrats and internal critics who said that his eleventh-hour disclosure unfairly damaged Clinton.

(12,992 posts)his hesitancy to do anything against the Repugs, even now when he's about to exit the White House, really urks me. Sigh..as much as I like O and thank God he's been for the most part a good POTUS, this hesitancy to act comes across as indecisive and weak. It's a huge weakness on his part. Sorry if I offend anyone but that's my assessment of O.

(14,153 posts)As the president that didn't cause waves. He has governed with his mantra of " there is no red America and no blue America but a United States of America" no matter what the evidence in front of his own eyes showed him. Blithely pretending that if he is only nice enough, only charming enough, witty enough, the Good Old Party boys will come around.
And furthermore if he stops now it would jar with the narrative he has methodically built for his presidential library.
I don't fault him for starting out like that. If he had assented office in another time or place it should work. But I'm disappointed that he didn't step up and use the bully pulpit more once it was clear that the Rethugs had no intention to respect him or his generosity of spirit or more importantly the well being of the country.

Right after Christmas - after all, "we are a Christian nation" - you're going to pay for destroying the credibility and independent nature of the FBI and the Department of Justice.
Corrupt Trump's head of security could use a paying job, right? Why the hell not?

(15,246 posts)Comey might be a grandstander and have a giant ego, but imho at least he's got integrety as a law enforcement officer.
Do you really want Trump appointing the next head of the FBI to a 10 year term? How would you like Chris Kobach as head of the FBI or someone just as bad? Comey isn't ideal, but he's a whole lot better than what very well could be if the Trumpers get their hands on an FBI vacancy.

Forget the "him being set up by his agents" excuse.
He's the boss. If he can't control his own agents that's on him.
He should be fired.
