Exclusive: Trump team seeks names of officials working to counter violent extremism

Source: Reuters

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's transition team has asked two Cabinet departments for the names of government officials working on programs to counter violent extremism, according to a document seen by Reuters and U.S. officials.

The requests to the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security involve a set of programs that seek to prevent violence by extremists of any stripe, including recruitment by militant Islamist groups within the United States and abroad.

Reuters could not determine why the Trump team asked for these names. The Trump team did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Trump has frequently criticized President Barack Obama for not doing enough to battle Islamic militants and for his refusal to use the term "radical Islam" to describe Islamic State and other militant groups.

it might sound like a good thing, a genuine attempt to find out who was working on these problems to solicit their advice. But with Trump, it is as likely to be the first step toward a purge to remove everyone who knows anything and replace them with Trump's lackeys.

You have to wonder what he's drinking the way he throws these kinds of accusations around. Its as if he thinks anyone who's a professional diplomat, scientist or lawyer working in government is some kind of scam artist.

And - yes - I also fear that it will continue to get worse with every day that goes by.
Unless, that is, we Dems can create, and put into action, daily, many creative and effective strategies to resist and protest and overcome every single action of this wretched country- and democracy-wrecking crew.

That counter-Inaugural concert planned for Miami is a start.
So also are Pres. Obama's defiant end-of-presidency actions. (Yes, many may be overturned, but Obama is planting his flag - our flag - and making it clear where he stands and we stand. And both Pres. Obama and Sec. Kerry have said explicitly that they plan activist roles after Jan 2017 (I haven't seen any public statements from Biden, but I assume that his plans are the same - certainly at least on the cancer front, but I assume also on several other fronts.)

They're far less interested in the names of the extremists. They already have those, in their campaign's supporter list.

And now this. The fascists are preparing for a Stalinist purge of the civil service. (And yes, I realize I mixed metaphors).

and purely innocent is delusional! The agenda is clearly to identify any possible dissenting voices, remove the threat, and replace them only with loyalist. I would anticipate this to be aggressively pursued by the republiCONS in 2017 as they have already expressed their desire to "reform" the non-partisan policies and practices of the Civil Service Commission.
