Weekly Address: Working Together to Keep America Moving Forward
Source: White House
In this weeks address, President Obama reflected on the significant progress weve made since he took office in 2009. Over the past eight years, weve turned the recession into recovery; 20 million more Americans have health insurance; weve brought 165,000 troops from Iraq and Afghanistan; we took out Osama bin Laden; and we brought nearly 200 nations together around a climate agreement that could save the planet for our kids. The President reminded us that this extraordinary progress wasnt inevitable it was the result of tough choices, and the hard work and resilience of the American people. It will take all of us working together to sustain and build on all that weve achieved thats how we keep America moving forward.

I want to wish everyone on DU, both friend and foe, a Happy New Year. This is has been a rough rough year for so many and for so many reasons and I think part of human nature is to try to slough off the worst of the past year and try to look forward to a new year and new beginning. I am going to miss this man and his family and will most likely avoid Drumpf's addresses, if he even bothers to do any. Seems he has excelled at dismissing or mocking every form of Presidential protocol and is apparently determined to take the office of the Presidency to an unprecedented low.
Finally, I want to give special thanks to cal04 who usually does this post every week, so my
for the dedication in doing that!
