Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto came out swinging as he completely disregarded Trump's new executive orders building the wall....................

Donald Trump is now being faced by an emboldened Mexican President that is no longer playing nice. Let us see who blinks first. Enrique Peña Nieto reiterated that he is not paying for the wall. Following is the entire translation of his speech.

.....................Today, the President of the United States signed two executive orders related to our country. One to implement immigration issues. And the other to extend the wall on the border. In response, I've ordered the Secretary of Foreign Affairs to reinforce protection measures for our nationals. The fifty Mexican consulates in the United States will be converted into authentic defenders of the rights of immigrants.

Mexico has a lot more to lose from going toe-to-toe with the USA than we have with Mexico.

Replacing Mexico as a trade partner would not be a difficult thing and Mexico would turn into Venezuela.

We shall see how this plays out, I think everybody is playing it wrong.

Not everybody in Mexico is dirt poor, after all. They are tourists that visit and shop. They also have many relatives living here. Last I checked, the factories where all the "cheap labor" works are located in Mexico. Surely the Mexican government has some say about what enters and exits their country.

We will be the losers in this when China and Russia step up and make friendly overtures to all our allies Shit Gibbon alienates and pisses off.

remittances going to Mexico. Remittances from Mexicans living in the US are the second biggest source of their GDP, second only to oil.

So Trump may tax them, or block them entirely. That can seriously hurt Mexico.

Border taxes of any kind always get passed down the distribution chain, down to the seller and consumer.

http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-breakingviews-idUSKBN15920G

But the benefits and costs are uneven. Retailers selling imported products, like clothes, shoes and electronics, say the border-adjusted tax would increase their costs - which rings true, since some would essentially be taxed on something close to their revenue, rather than their profit, outweighing the benefit of a lower headline rate of tax. The National Retail Federation says the idea would force its members to raise prices for consumers by up to 15 percent. Other industries that rely on imported parts, like the auto sector, could be hurt, too. Gasoline prices could also go up since the tax would apply to oil imports.

they pass along costs to consumers. They are a profit-seeking enterprise after all.

They may find sales fall 40%, so if they lower prices and eat some of the tariff
fees, ok, but how long will they do that?

It certainly increases incentives to export and to not import, but in terms of collecting money 100% would be from US companies, and that cost would get passed on to consumers.
