Navy: Special forces flew Trump flag in convoy
Source: USA Today
LOUISVILLE It's official: The military convoy seen flying a Trump flag in Louisville on Sunday belonged to a Navy Special Warfare unit, and the flag was "unauthorized," a Navy spokeswoman said.
Lt. Jacqui Maxwell of the Naval Special Warfare Group 2 in Virginia Beach, Va., said a command inquiry is underway.
Yes, it was inappropriate, Maxwell said. It was unauthorized.
She said she did not know the potential penalties for the violation.

Supremely disrespectful of the American flag, and America, btw.

(416 posts)because that's not where the US flag would be flown from a vehicle anyways. Plus, with Trump going to the airport with his daughter is going to give them cover for anything at the moment.
Mc Mike
(9,115 posts)But no flag of a politician should be flown by our troops, on American citizen-owned military vehicles or bases, no matter what kind of right wing nut job dRumpf fan boys those troops happen to be.
They swore an oath to defend the Constitution, not to be the private army of a draft dodging coward, no matter how stupid they are, or how much they just lurve that nazi.
If it isn't an American flag, it shouldn't be flying on military property, period. Who gives a crap if they were IN a dRumpf motorcade? And they weren't.

The entire country is enraged by this stolen election and someone in our armed services shoves in our faces?

President Obama was speaking in Ohio. Some threads on that "t-bagging, wingnut site" got well over a couple of hundred responses with people just aghast that President Obama had his "own flag"...not only did they go apoplectic about that, but they were at "Depends Level Code Brown" because they said it appeared President Obama had simply made some changes to the American flag to come up with this "Obama Flag".
Think about the above for a minute and then "google" "State Flag of Ohio"

(10,156 posts)but I remembered that several corporations have their own flags - which are only seen at corporate offices.
So let troops fly the flag of a private corporation - it will remind them what they're really fighting and dying for.

(68,868 posts)Dear lord. He has his own private commandos operating within the US armed services.
Everyone of those guys needs to be kicked out of the military as they're the type who threaten freedom instead of protecting it.

(17,647 posts)If they're gonna pick someone to fly a flag for, can't they do better than a draft-dodging, military-dissing, head case chickenhawk?
I guess the braggadocio and bluster outweigh everything else.

(50,562 posts)I was in the field with a radar intercept team once. Our mission was to scan the aether for radar signals. We were getting ready to do that when a 2LT stopped us...
"Whatcha doing?"
'Getting ready to search for radars.'
"You don't have to do that. There aren't any to search for."
'How do you know, sir?'
"Because I don't hear any."
At this point the guy I was working with got very insubordinate.

(2,679 posts)We always had good ones but we made sure that at least two other people were checking our position. Lol
Wanna have a good laugh do a google search on 2LT memes.

(50,562 posts)One of the S-2 guys in 2nd Brigade, 101st Airborne was a butter bar named Thurlow. He got the nickname Lockout Thurlow because he liked to change safe combinations without testing them. After the first one happened, my platoon put in a request for a graduate of the CIA Lock Picking course. After the second one, the brigade commander banished him to my unit...where, relieved of his safe-destroying tools, he turned out to be a nice kid.

(50,562 posts)That wonderful little document is entitled, "Political Activities by Members of the Armed Forces." What you see here falls into the "prohibited activities" sphere.
I take it Naval Special Warfare doesn't do load cards. The Army's "investigation" of this would be short and sweet: pull that vehicle's load card and get the names of the driver and vehicle commander, then bring in those two plus their platoon sergeant, platoon leader, company commander, the battalion motor officer and motor sergeant, and anyone else in the motor pool who could have stopped this vehicle from going through the gate with a Trump flag on the antenna, read Article 31 of the UCMJ (the military version of the Miranda warning) to them, and advise that if someone doesn't give up the names of the people who did it, the entire group is going to be charged with Conspiracy (Article 81), Failure to Obey a Lawful Order or Regulation (Article 92), Damaging Military Equipment (Article 108 - you DO NOT run down the freeway with your antennas not tied down!) and Perjury (Article 131). Fifteen seconds later, "it was that motherfucker right there" will ring forth.

(16,937 posts)I'd like to think that our trained military would be better versed on expected and proper procedures, not like the good-ole'-boys in their pick-ups flying the Confederate flag at the Dew-Drop Inn just down the road.
At the same time, you still see "polls" showing that there are great numbers out there approving what Cheeto is doing and we can't expect him to be on his way out tomorrow, much as we'd like that to happen.
But we MUST keep up on situations like this - don't let it "vanish" and don't let anybody get away with something that is so totally wrong!
