Senators introduce resolution in support of Australia after Trump call

Source: The Hill

Senators are moving to shore up the U.S.-Australian relationship after reports of a contentious call between President Trump and the Australian prime minister.

Sens. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Ed Markey (D-Mass.) introduced a bipartisan resolution on Monday "reaffirming a strong commitment to the United States-Australia alliance relationship."
"I don't know what happened during last week's telephone call between the president of the United States and the prime minister of Australia," Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said from the Senate floor. "But I do know this, the people of the United States do not have better friends than the people of Australia. We're more than friends."

The Washington Post reported last week that Trump lashed out at Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull during a phone call between the leaders.

at potentially running against Trump in the next election so they want to try and put on a show that they might have a backbone but when push comes to shove they are still Repugnants.

Megalomaniac trump thinks the whole world must bow down to him. When trump talks to someone who is popularly elected and confident in his power and position, and doesn't bow down, trump has a hissie meltdown. That's what happened.

I wonder if McConnell will be the last senate holdout when trump is booted out of office?

There's a KKK operative in there advising the President.

Fix it with Australia but also address the insult and danger that is at home.

I hope Rubio and Alexander will remember that the United States SHOULD NOT NEED ANY F***ING SENATE RESOLUTION to affirm our friendship with Australia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That should no more need a Senate resolution than affirming that water is wet.

oops--this is an open forum for Democrats. Someone will now probably inform Bannon, and tomorrow, Trump will issue an Executive Order declaring that water is dry. The way things are going, we'll need a new Senate Resolution to make it wet again.
