MLK Jr's daughter gives tips on opposing Trump

Source: The Hill

Martin Luther King Jr.’s daughter on Tuesday shared ten steps of “wise advice” for challenging President Trump.

“Don’t use his name; EVER (45 will do),” Bernice King wrote on Facebook. "Remember this is a regime and he’s not acting alone.”

“Do not argue with those who support him – it doesn’t work,” the civil rights activist added. "Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and his mental state.”

“Keep your message positive: they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies grow.”

As far as I can tell, Bernice King posted this on Facebook just before Elizabeth Warren was silenced when she tried to read Coretta Scott King's letter about Jeff Sessions.

Here's a link to the Facebook post, and the full text of that post, which I think it's okay to post here in its entirety:

Some Wise Advice Circulating:
1. Don't use his name; EVER (45 will do)
2. Remember this is a regime and he's not acting alone;
3. Do not argue with those who support him--it doesn't work;
4. Focus on his policies, not his orange-ness and mental state;
5. Keep your message positive; they want the country to be angry and fearful because this is the soil from which their darkest policies will grow;
6. No more helpless/hopeless talk;
7. Support artists and the arts;
8. Be careful not to spread fake news. Check it;
9. Take care of yourselves; and
10. Resist!
Keep demonstrations peaceful. In the words of John Lennon, "When it gets down to having to use violence, then you are playing the system’s game. The establishment will irritate you - pull your beard, flick your face - to make you fight! Because once they’ve got you violent, then they know how to handle you. The only thing they don’t know how to handle is non-violence and humor."
When you post or talk about him, don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Republican Administration," or "The Republicans." This will have several effects: the Republican legislators will either have to take responsibility for their association with him or stand up for what some of them don't like; he will not get the focus of attention he craves; Republican representatives will become very concerned about their re-elections.

that of "don't assign his actions to him, assign them to "The Repug Administration" or "The Repugs."

We have to continually tie Trump to the Repugs and vice versa.

3. Perfect, except I prefer 'Republican's Choice' instead of '45'

Use the word 'Republican' whenever you can.
I think about the training the Civil Rights activists received so they could remain non-violent when others use violence. That is so tough for me, but I have joined our local 'Indivisibles' group and will have to make sure I remain calm when going to the office or appearance of our Tea Party US Congress man and local Tea Party 'Representatives'.

4. "The Republicans" own this huge, anti-American mess

Absolutely. Make them own it. Republicans are always weaseling out of responsibility. That is wrong. Make them own the huge, ugly fascist mess they are making out of an already great America.

Regarding #4, I find relevance in discussing tRump's mental illness and the real potential that he could decline further or become more impaired as he's in his 70s and has at least one close family member who suffered from dementia. This is a concerning and real issue and needs to be watched.

what the GOP should be doing about him and his mental illness. Just stating it over and over just leads to a hopeless, helpless feeling, or fear, which we don't want to encourage.

The Opposition to the GOP needs to be strong and determined, not weak and dispairing.
