T.J. Maxx Backs Away From Ivanka Trump as President Assails Nordstrom

Source: NYT

Last week, employees at T.J. Maxx and Marshalls got very clear instructions about where to put signs for Ivanka Trump products: in the garbage.

The TJX Companies, the retailers’ parent company, told employees not to display Ivanka Trump merchandise separately and to throw away Ivanka Trump signs, according to a note to employees on Wednesday, a copy of which was obtained by The New York Times.

“Effective immediately, please remove all Ivanka Trump merchandise from features and mix into the runs,” the note read. “Runs” refers to the normal clothing racks where the majority of products hang. “All Ivanka Trump signs should be discarded.”

A spokeswoman for the TJX Companies, Doreen Thompson, confirmed that the message had been sent to stores.

They should've known they would take a hit after the p-grabber comments

The retailers are just following their invoices which plainly are demonstrating her line is a non seller

The floor. On the clearance racks I saw a lot of markdowns on her items. My sister and I were in a Marshalls before the election and I saw some cute boots when I saw they were hers I put them back and pointed out they were hers, my sister made a noise that made me laugh. A few minutes later I saw another woman look at the boots and when she saw they were ivanka she threw them down. I laughed and she looked at me and gave me a look of agreement.

Before Trump ran for president, she had never given me any cause to think she wasn't a nice person. In fact, I liked her. In the documentary "Born Rich" she seemed to be very down to earth and natural.

And it's been occurring to me that she is perhaps the only person in Trump's circle who might be a voice of reason whom he would actually listen to. Maybe her husband too, I don't know the first thing about him. But she might be realizing that the only sane person who could possibly succeed at being a check on him is her. We all want her to stand up and call him on his bullshit, but that would be completely counterproductive. She knows that he won't listen to anybody who confronts him, and she also knows better than anyone in the world how his mind works.

So perhaps she's sticking around, not speaking out against him, not because she's in on her father's plans but precisely because of the opposite. She can't even say "hey, guys, I'm on your side" to the people who are trashing her, or her access to Trump would be cut off. So she has to watch her image being dragged down with her father's and say nothing to defend herself.

It's just a theory, but I do really think there's a good chance that she is our last bulwark between us and complete and utter catastrophe.

I seem to recall stories about how she stole/copied designs of another person. I am pretty sure if her dad's ties were found to be made in horrible overseas factories, her stuff is being made the same way. It looks to me like she was willing to have her dad's new job help her brand.
She doesn't seem very nice to me, in this light.

The point being, I haven't set foot in any of the retailers that marketed her stuff for years. Otherwise I'd be sounding off bigly telling them I'd make my own clothes rather than frequent their establishments.

Now if Ivanka starts selling sweats at Costco, I'll be in big trouble.
