Top Democrat Seeks 'Disciplinary Action' for Kellyanne Conway

Rep. Elijah Cummings, the top Democrat on the House Oversight & Government Reform Committee, said top White House aide Kellyanne Conway should receive “disciplinary action” for using a national TV apperance from the White House briefing room to urge Americans to buy items from Ivanka Trump’s clothing line. In a letter to GOP Rep. Jason Chaffetz, the chairman of the committee, Cummings says Conway’s remark “appears to be a textbook violation of government ethics laws and regulations enacted to prevent the abuse of an employee’s government position.” He asked Chaffetz to refer the incident to the Office of Government Ethics. Appearing on Fox News Thursday morning, Conway said viewers should “go buy Ivanka’s stuff,” adding: “I’m going to just give a free commercial here. Go buy it today, everybody. You can find it online.” Conway was responding to Nordstrom’s decision to drop Ivanka Trump’s clothing line, citing poor sales.
