House GOP hails health plan that Democrats call inadequate

Source: Washington Post

WASHINGTON — Top House Republicans say their outline for replacing President Barack Obama’s health care law is a pathway to greater flexibility and lower costs for consumers. Democrats see a road to ruin for millions who’d face lost coverage and higher medical expenses, particularly the poor.

The plan “ensures more choices, lower costs and greater control over your health care,” according to talking points GOP leaders handed lawmakers heading home to face constituents during this week’s recess.

Democrats say the proposal would threaten the coverage 20 million Americans gained under Obama’s 2010 overhaul. “It’s like rationing” health care, said Rep. Frank Pallone of New Jersey, the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s top Democrat.

The GOP package lacks details, which are a work in progress, and has no estimates of cost or the number of people it would serve. It’s also uncertain if enough Republicans would support it — a hurdle that’s flummoxed leaders over seven years of trying to dismantle Obama’s law.

Vouchers do not pay for a heart attack, or cancer.

A $4,500 voucher for a $80,000 heart attack leaves $75,000 to be paid, and if you give some hospital $5.00 a month, the phone calls and letters from collection agency will be unrelenting, and this doesn't account for the medication, and the doctors bills, even if you get a plan from some other state sponsored plan, its still only $4500.00, this is just BS.

Medicare pays 80/20 now. Use to be 90/10 and before that 100%, and that was and is taken out of your pay check in the FICA tax 7.65% out of that 1.45% is for medicare. I pay $157.00 dollars a month for Medicare, my wife pays over $400.00 a month for some bronze plan, with a $6,500 deductible, the only reason why it went up was because of Marco Rubio and his rider, to justify there railing against the ACA. You all ready pay for Medicare why not ask for it, to compete against these "private for profit" firms, no matter how old you are?

I really hope people are going to there senate and congressional seats this week, these people need to be put on notice

House republicans made a big show of one of their ACA replacements? They all help up these graphics intensive slick folders and raved about their new plan? Well, until some reporter got their hands on one of the folders and discovered it was filled with blank pages?

Yeah - they got exactly that - blank pages and empty promises.
