Dennis Hastert sex abuse victim wants all $3.5 million of hush money promised to him

Source: New York Daily News

A sexual abuse victim of former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert says he should keep all of the hush money he got from Hastert — because it was the disgraced politician who first revealed their secret arrangement.

In the latest filing for the victim’s breach-of-contract lawsuit, the man says he is entitled to all of the $3.5 million Hastert offered him since he kept his part of their agreement, according to the Chicago Tribune.

Hastert has not only asked to have the lawsuit dismissed, but also to make the victim pay back $1.7 million from their deal.

The victim is one of at least four men who have accused Hastert of assaulting them when they were high school students, and he was working as a teacher and coach in Illinois.

If someone won't live up to a hush money deal, how can trust ever be restored?

6. If it was a settlement for what Hastert did with the victim merely agreeing not to reveal it

how is it an illegal contract? Or are you referring to the part where Hastert wants it back because it became public? I dont see that happening not if the victim didnt initiate the investigation that uncovered it.

7. It wasn't a settlement, it was "hush money."

The victim said Hastert offered him the money in 2010 if he would keep quiet about abuse on a wrestling trip in the 1970s, when the victim was 14.

After Hastert came under FBI scrutiny, he stopped his payments and tried to frame the victim for a phony extortion plan.

Hastert's lawyers are correct. But good luck to Hastert trying to be reimbursed for the payments he made.

10. Hmm if he actually tried to frame the victim with a phony extortion thing then maybe the victim

should sue for even more money, I know if I was on such a jury I would be tempted to punish Hastert for that bullshit.

11. Are you referring to the sexual assault or to the way Hastert broke the law to pay the victim?

I would think the first would be irrelevant due to statute of limitations but the 2nd isnt the victims fault unless Hastert told him that that he (Hastert) was going to break the law to pay him.
