Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom asks Trump for cooperation with California on marijuana regulation

Source: LA Times

Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom, a leading supporter of Proposition 64, sent a letter to President Trump on Friday, urging him not to carry through with threats to launch a federal enforcement effort against recreational marijuana firms that will be legalized in California.

The letter, which was copied to Atty. Gen. Jeff Sessions, came a day after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters, "I do believe that you'll see greater enforcement” against recreational-use marijuana.

Newsom’s letter attempts to persuade the president that a regulated market for adult-use marijuana is preferable to what has existed in the past.

“The war on marijuana has failed,” Newsom wrote. “It did not, and will not, keep marijuana out of kids’ hands.”

Drumpf and Sessions are in the back pockets of the privatized prison industry and want to keep the jails full of MJ smokers, for their own profit. So fucking sick. i really loathe these to pretend humans.

To do the field, produce harvesting work of the immigrants they are deporting. In their eyes it's win-win.

They get to have slaves again.

It's too bad he's not the governor already, it might be too soon for him.

He spoke to a rally today. It is a long ways off and a lot can happen, but I think he would be a good candidate.

I think that's a big requirement. Lt. Governors are elected independently of the Governor, unlike a Vice President. It looks like he will run for Governor in 2018 and I would imagine he'll win handily. I think he'll probably pass on 2020. Heaven forbid Trump, or Pence, wins in 2020, I could see Newsom running in 2024 though.

It is only state rights on issues that they agree with but if they disagree with it they'll use the federal government. The gop the party that talks out of both sides of its mouth!

ask them to stand up to trump's administration's "federal enforcement".

See where your repug Congressperson sits with this administration.

Be interesting.

Heck, even if your State has not legalized...write and find out who will back trump on this.
