While appearing on CNNs State of the Union this morning, Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) was asked about a tweet sent out today by President Donald Trump about the Democratic National Committee chair race that former Labor Secretary Tom Perez won.
Pointing out that Trump tweeted that the DNC election was rigged against Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN), who was backed by Sanders, host Jake Tapper pressed former Democratic presidential candidate on whether or not POTUS had a point.
No, he doesnt have a point, Sanders stated. Thats what the system is.
The independent senator went on to talk about the amount of energy within the Democratic Party right now, with rallies occurring all across the nation, before pivoting to a rundown of the Trump Administrations policies.

(51,554 posts)Every party has its own rules about how to elect leadership, and in this case these rules were fair and were undeniably followed.
Calling it "the system" is a dog whistle suggesting a corrupt establishment, another word you like to throw around. This was well short of a full-throated defense. Kind of like your campaigning for Hillary fell short of your promise to do "everything" to prevent Trump from being elected. For one thing, you could have turned over your email list to the DNC. I see you still refuse to do that:
If you are wondering how that is working for you, Bernie, ask Zephyr Teachout, who lost in blue New York despite your targeted support.
It is about time you got on board, I mean really on board. Until you actually rejoin the Democratic party, you will be a walking denoucement of it. Actions speak louder than words.
