Bill Paxton, actor in 'Twister' and 'Aliens,' dies at 61

(CNN)Actor Bill Paxton, whose extensive career included films such as "Twister," "Aliens" and "Titanic," has died, a representative for his family said in a statement. He was 61.

"It is with heavy hearts we share the news that Bill Paxton has passed away due to complications from surgery," the statement said.
"A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill's passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family's wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father."
Moments after news of Paxton's death broke, social media lit up with tributes to the versatile actor.

Loved that guy in everything he was in. He was one of those actors that made even crappy movies better just because he showed up in them.

So sad to hear this.

For a long time back in the 90s, when my work computer started up in the morning, it would say "We're on an express elevator to Hell - going down" and when I shut it down at night, it would say "that's it man, game over, game over."

Paxton was in the crowd when President John F. Kennedy emerged from the Hotel Texas on the morning of his assassination on November 22, 1963. Photographs of an eight-year-old Paxton being lifted above the crowd are on display at the Sixth Floor Museum in Dallas, Texas.

I was just watching him the other night on the show "Training Day" and thinking that he hadn't aged that much. And now he's gone. Rest in peace Bill.

I was away from the computer and just heard this on the radio.

In addition to some of the films mentioned, I also liked him in off-the-beaten track movies "Traveller" -



What a loss!

He was wonderful in everything he ever appeared in, and seemed to be a great person, as well. And POSUS (Piece of Shit of the United States) lives on.

Complications from surgery, he seemed pretty healthy just before, i will be eager to see more details.
