GOP takes heat for ObamaCare secrecy
Source: The Hill
House Republicans are coming under growing pressure to release their ObamaCare repeal and replace plan ahead of committee markups that could begin next week.
Even some Republican lawmakers are criticizing their party for the lack of access to the House Energy and Commerce Committee's draft bill, which is apparently being kept in a designated room in the Capitol where entry is limited to certain members.
We want to see the bill. We have many objections, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told a swarm of reporters Thursday as he tried to get into the room where he thought the bill was located. We're here asking for a written copy of this because this should be an open and transparent process.
Democrats complain that they are being kept in the dark about the legislation and fear they will not have enough chance to review it before a committee vote. They also note that there have not been hearings about the plan, something that traditionally happens before legislation is marked up in committee.
The repeal bill is moving so quickly that the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) might not have a chance to score it before the Energy and Commerce Committees vote, according to Rep. Chris Collins (R-N.Y.).
Without the CBO analysis, lawmakers would be voting on the measure without estimates of how much the legislation would cost or how many people could lose or gain insurance coverage.

Secrecy means trouble. Period.

(6,344 posts)A draft of the ObamaCare repeal that leaked last week shows that Republicans may use the same language they did in the 2015 bill, which would block Medicaid reimbursements to Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers for a year.
While existing law already prevents federal money from going towards abortion funding, Republicans want to stop the organization from receiving federal reimbursements for non-abortion womens health services it provides.

"Aides in the room told the senator -- before dozens of reporters in a crowded hallway -- that there was no bill to see. "

(6,344 posts)- Health savings accounts (Who can "save" for health issues?)
- Tax credits to help with a portion of the premium (a lot less help)
- Pre-existing conditions persons would have "access" to health care ("access" means expensive)
- High risk insurance pools (expensive for the ones with health issues)
- Funding goes to state discretion (which means it does not reach the low-income folks)
We can guess this new bill will be something very painful for people, in many ways.

(6,931 posts)---Start saving for your heart surgery NOW
---Tax credit of $250.00 per month to pay for an $850.00 per month premium
---Pre-existing would have access to a ultra expensive policy OR deductibles of $50-75,000
---Phony insurance companies "cross State lines" to sell insurance and then DENY claims
---Turn funding over to Gov Brownback here in Kansas to use for keeping a ZERO % tax rate for LLC's and other corporations
Yeah, sounds like the NEO CONS have outdone themselves on this one....

This is what a country is when it is run by billionaires and capitalism. We have been going down this road for a long time, culminating into this mess.
