President Donald Trump on Friday tweeted an old photo of Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N) with Russian President Vladimir Putin, writing there should be an investigation into Schumer "and his ties to Russia and Putin."

The photo captures a scene from a 2003 meeting between Schumer and Putin to mark the occasion of New York's first Lukoil gas station opening. The two are shown eating Krispy Kreme donuts, according to the AP photo caption.
The photo has been circulated on conservative news sites over the last few days, after Schumer called for Attorney General Jeff Sessions to resign following revelations that Sessions met twice with Russia's ambassador to the United States before the election.

Schumer responded in a quote tweet, saying that he's happy to talk about his conversation with Putin.

(6,278 posts)Good response from Schumer, who knows that given the choice of putting up or shutting up, Trump has only one good option. Which means he'll do neither, of course.

(5,810 posts)Anything that breaks through Fox or Info Wars or wherever they get their news is twisted or tweaked in such a way as to be unrecognizable. Fake News on steroids.
But their day of reckoning is coming. If this whole debacle is ANYTHING like Watergate (and we're being led to believe that this will make Watergate look like a Sunday School picnic) it will be televised for all the world to see. Hearings, court proceedings, perp walks, frog marches, all of it. Their denials will get a gigantic slap of reality when they find out their "hero" tTump (and his minions) screwed them all. Wooed, screwed and tattooed. For that alone, I am hoping the downfall of Donald J. tRump comes sooner rather than later.

(3,998 posts)I remember reading a piece by a Silicon Valley entrepreneur who zipped around interviewing a spate of trump voters, and I was struck by their sentiment that they'll never come around if dems keep calling them idiots. Well, if anyone can continue to support Trump given the his constant of twitter lunacy, policy lunacy, Russian connections, they deserve to be called idiots.
