Mitch McConnell When Asked If Mexico Will Pay For Border Wall: 'Uh, No'

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said during a Politico Playbook event Thursday morning that Mexico was not actually going to pay for President Donald Trumps proposed border wall.
When asked about a wall, McConnell said that there are some places along the border where thats probably not the best way to secure the border. When asked further if he believed Mexico would pay for it, McConnell responded bluntly: Uh, no.
McConnells statement stands in contrast to Trumps campaign promises that he would build a wall and that Mexico would pay for it. Trump most recently repeated that claim in January, leading the Mexican president to cancel a planned meeting in Washington D.C.

(3,077 posts)That was obvious. They aren't going to pay for it. But I love the way Vincente Fox said it better.

USA side will remain the same fracked out, 100 mile wide scrub land, detention camps full of undocumented woman & children REFUGEES- costing Americans 2 trillion dollars a year to pay all the 'for profit' contractors.

(100,070 posts)And the Trump administration wants to gut the Coast Guard to pay for it - which makes this an even more stupid-ass idea because more drugs come in by sea than by land. If he really were serious, he'd ditch the wall idea and strengthen the Coast Guard.

These people don't read old books. They just don't read, period.

(599 posts)So we're going to pay for a $14-20 billion wall that won't stop anyone from coming into the U.S. Why do Republicans like to waste taxpayer money?
