White House press secretary Sean Spicer said on Tuesday that President Donald Trump is "extremely confident" an investigation will "vindicate" his unsubstantiated claims that President Barack Obama "wiretapped" his phone lines at Trump Tower.
"I think he's extremely confident," Spicer said at his daily briefing. "I'll let the House and Senate and I'll let the DOJ report this."
He claimed there was "significant reporting about surveillance techniques" that "existed throughout the 2016 election."
"I'll leave it to them to issue their report," Spicer said. "But I think he feels very confident that will ultimately come to this, will vindicate him."

Spicer Confirms WH Is Helping With Amendment To Modify O'Care Repeal Bill
By CAITLIN MACNEAL Published MARCH 14, 2017, 3:06 PM EDT
White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer on Tuesday confirmed that the White House is helping draft an amendment to legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare unveiled by House Republican leadership last week.
Politico reported Monday night that President Donald Trump was considering backing a "manager's amendment," typically a large package of amendments agreed upon in advance, that would appease conservative opponents of the legislation.
The amendment would potentially throw some goodies to those conservatives in the form of moving up the date to roll back Medicaid expansion from 2020 to 2018, or moving up the date for other changes to the insurance marketplace, Politico reported.
Asked during the daily briefing if the White House was helping with that amendment, Spicer replied, "Yes."

Spicer: The CBO Is 'Pretty Good At Dollars, Not As Good At People'
ByMATT SHUHAMPublishedMARCH 14, 2017, 3:06 PM EDT
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday, in response to a Congressional Budget Office estimate that millions of people would lose care as a result of Republicans' health care plan, that the CBO was "pretty good at dollars, not as good at people."
During his daily press briefing, Spicer endorsed the CBO's projections that the American Health Care Act would reduce the deficit by a bit more than $33 billion a year for 10 years, on average. But he said the office wasn't a reliable judge of coverage numbers.
"CBO coverage estimates are consistently wrong, and more importantly, did not take into consideration the comprehensive nature of the three-pronged plan to repeal and replace Obamacare with the American Health Care Act," Spicer said.
Earlier, Spicer had emphasized that the CBO's estimate that the ACHA would reduce the deficit was reflective of what the office "was really about."

(6,228 posts)If those repub amendments are included, we are so screwed. Sometimes I'm still in shock that folks voted 3rd party, principle/purity or not at all resulting in trump et al. I truly feel sorry for young folks. With a trump Supreme Court, their lives are screwed for a very long time. Fight we must, but we certainly cut the Dems off at the knees. They have no power. They do not set the agenda.
We punished ourselves big time.

(50,270 posts)probable cause that a crime has been committed or is in the process of being committed. If Trump had even a small clump of gray matter to draw from, he'd realize the smart thing to do is make an apology and try to move on.

It seems to me that the more Trump pushes this bull, without ANY legit evidence of Obama 'illegally' spying on him, the worse HE looks and when it comes out that he was LYING or perhaps that there was spying BUT it was done LEGALLY with proper approval, Russiagate will get even more attention by the public wondering why.

that happened and get an answer PDQ.
Why not an investigation into big foots who ride jet skis on Lake Pend Orielle in Idaho?
Talking about pissing away money but a Congressional and DoJ investigation into nothing.
