Before the American Health Care Act was pulled from the House floor on Friday, President Trump took to Twitter to call out the House Freedom Caucus specifically:

Trump delivered some brief comments in the Oval Office on Friday and, when asked about the Freedom Caucus, he said he was disappointed that this group of Republicans opposed the legislation.

This morning on Twitter, Trump, while not outright attacking the Freedom Caucus, this time said that Democrats are smiling because of their actions:

(960 posts)hell is about to break loose.
This guy is honestly the worst politician. He did the politically savvy thing (probably listened to his advisers) and blamed the opposition, but like a shitty magician he couldn't help himself from revealing the trick after the show. Probably when his handler was in the bathroom.
I predicted this as soon as he blamed the democrats. I knew somebody would forget to watch the president and he'd fly to twitter to turn on the real people who are to blame for sinking the bill.

(4,429 posts)He is misreading his audience. This will piss the caucus off even more. The more division he can sow within the Republican party prior to his tax 'reform' debate - the better!
You're a bull in a china shop, Trump. The more glass you break, the more likely that the Democrats will keep on winning.

(23,156 posts)All Repugs are united on that front, from what I can tell. Now, he won't get what he asked for because he consciously overbid so things would come down nearer to what he wants. He'll get rid of any taxes he pays so estate and AMT are definitely going down or repug heads will roll. This is what he really cares about, himself. Health care was a show, he had no personal interest in it, taxes are about him so he's going to be very involved. I'd be shocked if he doesn't get a whole lot of what he asks for, repugs are always willing to destroy our government so they and their masters can pocket a few thousand to a few hundred thousand a year. That they will take this from programs used by everyone, and that they will raise taxes on the poor is also a given.

(24,259 posts)Trump thinks our saving them will hurt us when we know it won't. If he and GOP undermine to kill off the ACA people will know who to blame and it's not us.
Now we just have to make sure to remind voters about how it's been the Dems that are on 'their' side and Republicans only fight for the 1% and big corps and screw the middle class and poor. Democrat pols need to keep this backbone they found strong. People WANT their reps to FIGHT for them and most people now know that sometimes 'nice' needs to be outspoken and with the gloves off for the right cause.
The rest of the snark towards Republican caucuses will serve just to add more division to the Republican party and make them annoyed enough to dig in their heels against him.... which will work out well for Dems if they play it right (please Ds, don't snatch defeat from the jaws of victory)

.........The Freedom Caucus, also known as the House Freedom Caucus, is a congressional caucus consisting of conservative Republican members of the United States House of Representatives.[7] It was formed in 2015 by what member Jim Jordan called a "smaller, more cohesive, more agile and more active" group of conservative Congressman.[8]
Many members are also part of the Republican Study Committee, another conservative House group.[8][9] The caucus is sympathetic to the Tea Party movement.[10] According to its mission statement, it "gives a voice to countless Americans who feel that Washington does not represent them. We support open, accountable and limited government, the Constitution and the rule of law, and policies that promote the liberty, safety and prosperity of all Americans."[..........
