Trey Gowdy claims Nunes never talked to Trump about Russia even though he admitted he did

Source: Raw Story

A terse Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) snapped at CBS host John Dickerson on Sunday morning, insisting that House Intelligence Committee head Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) did not speak with President Donald Trump about a Russia investigation despite Nunes telling the press he did.

Appearing on CBS’s Face The Nation, Gowdy — who headed up the most recent investigation into former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Benghazi — was asked about the propriety of Nunes speaking with president about the investigation. “Has he shown you any of what caused him to suggest that Obama officials doing surveillance captured some Trump campaign associates and unmasked them in the process of investigating?” Dickerson asked.

After admitting that he hasn’t seen the information Nunes was given, Gowdy insisted that he is just as much in the dark about the intelligence info as Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), the senior Democrat on the intelligence committee.

“I’ll just tell you this,” Gowdy continued. “My understanding is Chairman Nunes briefed the commander-in-chief on matters unrelated to the Russian investigation. So, if that’s a big deal in Washington, then we’ve sunk to a new low.”

Maybe "briefed" is the wrong word? Nunes creeped on Trump.

security, which meant less funding for American consulates and "compounds": as well.

US Ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens & 3 other Americans were killed in the Benghazi attack, but it was the fault of the Republicans who voted to cut funding for embassy security, not Secretary Clinton.

&quot In 2011) Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned that Republicans' proposed cuts to her department would be 'detrimental to America's national security' - a charge Republicans rejected."
One year before Benghazi, Hillary warned the GOP that their embassy security cuts put America at risk, and they didn't listen to her.

Thoroughly convinced, without evidence ... that these lies ... are facts.

Well, I suppose to some extent, everyone is like that. But the thing that's different between them and US ... is that we actually WANT to the know the real truth, and are willing to alter our opinions about things in the face of actual, demonstrable truth.

'Truth' and 'facts' are actual things to be respected for us. To the far-right, they are simply things to be believed when they confirm their biases, and rejected when they do not ... period. Which basically means there ARE NO 'FACTS' as far as these people are concerned. The entire concept does not exist in their minds.

It's truly a scary thing to witness at times, not to mention teetering on the clinical definition of 'mental illness'.

This case provides such a perfect example. It is FACT that Hillary told the GOP-controlled Congress that if they refused to increase the security budget for our overseas 'stations', be they embassies or CIA-run compounds (or both, as is often the case), that it WOULD lead to loss of American lives.

Yet somehow, when that VERY THING happens just a year later ... it's AAAAAALLLLLL Hillary's fault in their minds. SHE was the irresponsible one, not 'their team'. Because nothing bad that happens is EVER a result of anything decided by a politician with an (-R) after their name, no matter how f***ing GLARING and obvious the evidence FOR such a conclusion ... is. GOT to be the Liberals/Dems 'fault', period.

The atrocities that took place at Abu Ghraib are another perfect example of the phenomenon. They actually think that the Yoo memo, and the actual torture ... had nothing to do w/each other. It was just 'bad apples' ... RIIIIIIIIIGHT. Sure it was.

Their blindness and/or stupidity ... is nothing short of astounding to behold at times ...

Intelligence committee members disagree on dust-up involving Devin Nunes

WASHINGTON -- The top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee believes that the chairman of the committee, Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., is in danger of being perceived as a partisan surrogate of the Trump White House.

Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif.,, said on CBS’ “Face the Nation,” “I think the chairman has to make a decision, whether to act as a surrogate of the White House, as he did during the campaign and the transition, or to lead a independent and credible investigation. I hope he chooses the latter.”

Nunes and Schiff have been openly fighting since last week, after Nunes told reporters and the White House Wednesday that President Trump’s personal communications might have been picked up by the intelligence community through “incidental collection.” He made the remarks before he had briefed his colleagues on the committee, Republicans and Democrats alike.

It’s still the case that none of the members of the committee have been briefed on what Nunes was talking about last week, Schiff said -- “we’re all quite in the dark on this,” he told “Face the Nation” host John Dickerson.

Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., who also sits on the Intelligence Committee, confirmed that he has also not been briefed on the information that Nunes has. He, however, holds a different view of the chairman’s information-sharing with the president.

“The chairman of House Intel briefed the commander-in-chief on something that has nothing to do with the Russia investigation,” Gowdy said on “Face the Nation.” “So if the commander-in-chief cannot be briefed by the chairperson of the House Intel Committee on a matter that has nothing to do with the F.B.I. investigation, then I don’t know what they can talk about, John.”

winning may turn out to be the best thing to turn many more states blue, dumping Republiscum governors, representatives and senators.

Sure, we are all suffering in the meantime but I can't help but think of the stone walls Hillary would have encountered if the 'Scums still controlled the House and Senate. This way, just maybe, they will destroy the GOP for a decade or two....preferably about 50 years!
