North Korea vows response to 'reckless' US Navy move

Source: Yahoo news

Seoul (AFP) - North Korea denounced Washington's deployment of a naval strike group to the Korean peninsula Tuesday, warning it was ready for "war" in a further escalation of tensions.
The Carl Vinson strike group cancelled a planned trip to Australia this weekend to head to the region, in a show of force as Washington signalled it may act to shut down Pyongyang's nuclear capabilities.
"This goes to prove that the US reckless moves for invading the DPRK have reached a serious phase," a spokesman for the North's foreign ministry said according to state news agency KCNA.
"The DPRK is ready to react to any mode of war desired by the US," he said, using the country's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
President Donald Trump, fresh from ordering a missile strike on Syria that was widely interpreted as a warning to North Korea, has asked his advisors for a range of options to rein in Pyongyang, a top US official said Sunday.
Trump has previously threatened unilateral action against Pyongyang if China -- the North's sole major ally -- fails to help curb its neighbour's nuclear weapons ambitions.
But Pyongyang's response suggested the reclusive state is determined to continue on its current path, despite repeated rounds of United Nations sanctions.
"We will take the toughest counteraction against the provocateurs in order to defend ourselves by powerful force of arms," the foreign ministry spokesman said.

Just because this was scheduled before he became our ruler doesn't mean that he couldn't stop it.

powerful to average N Korean because I suspect after what they have done to the people in that country the leadership is afraid of what might happen to them if the people think they are weak.
In a way its kind of the same for Trump and the whole Syria airfield attack but warning them via Russia that it would happen beforehand so it really didnt hurt them but it looked good to the Trump supporters.

they don't have much industry or a diversified economy. Military is what they do.

As brutal and awful as a war would be, it would be good to see their government fall and have a unification of Korea. It would be much more radical than Germany reuniting. The people in the north would not believe what life is like on the outside.

Honestly, militarily wise, N Korea would be a turkey shoot, their technology is more ancient than Iraq's was. Still, this isn't a war any of us want and Trump is great at one thing; destabilizing the entire damn world.

Knowing Trump, I wouldn't be shocked if his goal was to reunify Korea and have it be part of his so called legacy & achieving that with war.
