WASHINGTON — President Trump received an urgent warning in February, informing him of a crucial date he was about to miss.

“FYI manufacturing deadlines for the Easter eggs are near,” said a Twitter post directed at Mr. Trump; the first lady, Melania Trump; and the president’s daughter Ivanka Trump. “Please reach out!”

By early March, the White House announced that the roll was on — next Monday, to be exact — and soon followed up with a rush order for the wooden eggs.

............................ Could this White House, plagued by slow hiring and lacking an on-site first lady, manage to pull off the largest, most elaborate and most heavily scrutinized public event of the year?

“It’s the single most high-profile event that takes place at the White House each year, and the White House and the first lady are judged on how well they put it on,” said Melinda Bates, who organized eight years of Easter Egg Rolls as director of the White House Visitors Office under President Bill Clinton. “I’m really concerned for the Trump people, because they have failed to fill some really vital posts, and this thing is all hands on deck.”..........................

10. It's not only the egg order

that they almost fucked up. Tickets that traditionally are handed out (as opposed to the lottery) are also uncertain. In the past, DC public schools got a block of tickets. And Congress members have heard nothing about the tickets they normally get. The Congressional tickets are less important than the schools' but it still shows the lack of planning. Of course, it's not surprising that Dump doesn't care about the egg roll. The White House is expecting about half the number of guests from last year. (Note: I heard this on the radio this morning (WTOP) but can't find it online; hence the lack of a link.)

I wonder if Melania will even be there.

as part of this day-long event and be cheered by their base for it. I still remember the outrage on another forum when she offered food in addition to the usual candy. Completely proved how unfit someone like her was to be First Lady.

I think he normally has had acceptably nutritious meals, even after his parents departed the scene. Whatever official observances were passed for whatever reasons (yes, noted and of interest), the Kushners undoubtedly observed seder with their children and likely other family.

I also believe the desire to indulge in satisfyingly insulting scenarios can turn us into incompetent, morally adrift fools as surely as it did to most on the right. The truth is not only whatever it is, it's never black and white, bad them, good us.
