Mosque Firebombing Suspect Wanted Revenge

The man who allegedly firebombed five New York City buildings last Sunday is Ray Lazier Lengend. According to police, Lengend was settling scores from percieved slights committed against him by the people in the buildings he targeted.

Also, it turns out that the choice of Starbucks bottles as Molotov cocktail containers was intentional.

As the New York Times writes, Lengend first hit a bodega where he'd previously been caught shoplifting milk and a Starbucks Frappuccino—the take-home kind in glass bottles. Apparently, the shop personnel were rude to him as he was ejected from the store.

He targeted the mosque in Queens because he didn't like the way he was treated when he once asked to use their bathroom. Lengend also made anti-Muslim statements to police, and indicated that he had planned to use more bottles on the center, which was hit with two to three Molotov cocktails.
