Warren on Comey firing: We need a special prosecutor whom Trump 'can't fire'
Source: The Hill
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) hit President Trump for his decision to fire FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday, calling on Congress to "get their heads out of the sand" and use a special prosecutor to investigate Trump.
Trump made the bombshell firing on Tuesday afternoon based on the recommendation of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and his deputy, Rod Rosenstein, according to White House press secretary Sean Spicer.
Trump argued in a letter to Comey that the FBI needs a new leader so it can restore "pubic trust and confidence."
Warren responded to the news, saying, "we need a real, independent prosecutor who [Trump] can't fire, Sessions can't intimidate and Congress can't muzzle."

They're clearly out to dominate and exploit the country, not help it.
If we're waiting for principled republicans, the sun will go out first.

(1,142 posts)What about Jeff Sessions lying under oath at his confirmation hearings about meetings with Russia?
How come he hasn't been held accountable for lying to Congress? Now he's gotten involved in obstructing the Russia investigations by recommending that Comey is fired before the investigations have had a chance to really get moving. The Democratic members of Congress should not let any of this go, they should shutdown the government at every turn until they force the GOP to take these matters which threaten the national security of our country at the highest levels with the seriousness that they deserve.

If they did decide to go the special prosecutor route, it would be someone like Giuliani

(27,797 posts)Now, how do we get Eddie Munster, McTurtle & the other GOP leaders in Congress to:
"Get their heads out of the sand" and authorize a special prosecutor?
What if 500,000 people came to D.C. & marched to Congress demanding a special prosecutor?
(It would have to be on a day that Congress was actually in session)
