I don't know if they (CNN and MSNBC) will air the entire hearing but something of this importance, I bet they will.

(26,060 posts)saying that senators had asked Comey to investigate if Sessions perjured himself. This could get very interesting, very fast.

(18,837 posts)Washington (CNN)A pair of Democratic senators asked then-FBI Director James Comey to investigate Attorney General Jeff Sessions, amid concerns that he may have had an additional meeting with the Russian ambassador the US, Sergey Kislyak, according to letters obtained by CNN Thursday.
Sens. Patrick Leahy and Al Franken -- Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee -- sent the requests to Comey and, later, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe in three letters dated March 20, April 28 and May 12.
"We are concerned about Attorney General Sessions' lack of candor to the committee and his failure thus far to accept responsibility for testimony that could be construed as perjury," Franken and Leahy wrote to Comey in their first request.
The Democrats have not received a response from the FBI to their three letters, a Senate source said.

(26,060 posts)about that other meeting they're looking at between sessions and kislyak - I hope Comey is asked about this and they should put Rothenstein (I think that's the name of the acting fbi director) under oath to make him prove he didn't drop this particular ball.

Comey unplugged, no director of the FBI shackles, no overseeing the investigation restrictions, but what's reported no ongoing investigation clamp downs,
as said Comey unplugged.
Obstruction of justice? Drop investigation into my buddy Mike Flynn, not firing.
Perjury for sessions, third meeting lies about first two, now lies about another.

(562 posts)I expect he'll deny Trump ordered him to stop the investigation, because if that were the case, Comey should have resigned. Its in Comey's legal interests to minimize Trump's intervention.
He'll likely say "I don't know his state of mind at the time. It was inappropriate but I didn't feel under pressure to drop the investigation."

(888 posts)Why have we been told that the meeting at the request generated "document this." For the file memo.
"Sources close to James Comey recorded as saying Comey felt strong enough after the meeting to document what was bothering him."
You may be right, ( I may be crazy, but it might be a lunatic you're looking for. Billy Joel)

(562 posts)Unlike the memo an average person might write something like - "Orange prick just f**king pressured me AGAIN to close the investigation!! Is he retarded or a Mafia boss?! WTF!!"
I think Comey's documentation was like:
-President brought up subject matter of investigation. Again expressed vague concern.
-I said "I will do my best to comply with my role"
-President then repeated vague concern.
- I repeated what "I will do my best"

(9,314 posts)evidence. Trump did ask Comey to drop the Flynn investigation, saying he was a good man. I think Trump used the words "let it go" -- something to that effect.
Trump also asked Comey for his loyalty (I believe this was in another meeting, one at the White House). All of this is starting to run together for me because I have been absorbing hours of the stuff. Trump cleared the room, including asking the VP to leave, and had the private conversation I mentioned. Comey responded by saying in effect he could not pledge loyalty but he could pledge integrity.
Comey sensed Trump would fire him as a result of his responses, so he was prepared to accept the consequences. He had experienced a sense of discomfort in some of his talks with Trump, and that is why he issued a memorandum after each incident, and he gave copies to his immediate staff. I do not think anyone can successfully challenge the authenticity of these memoranda.

(562 posts)That's what I read. Not "let it go." So if Trump qualified his requests as suggestions, by itself it may not rise to obstruction. All his statements and actions taken as a whole should. I also think Trump is swarmy enough not to be overtly forceful with someone who hasnt pledged loyalty.

(4,673 posts)to believe we'll get something from it, if not as much as we wish.
Mueller and he have discussed parameters of his testimony, and we'll get nothing specific about the investigation, but I think will hear some juice on all the times 45 called him, sent others to him, etc. "Sources close" have said Comey felt he 'could handle' the inappropriate lean from the WH.
But I don't think he's chomping to testify in order to be a nuthin' burger. Comey doesn't seem to roll that way.
