Anti-Muslim rallies across US denounced by civil rights groups

Source: The Guardian

June 10, 2017 - Saturday
So-called ‘anti-Sharia’ rallies across almost 30 US cities come as hate crimes on the rise, prompting criticism and counter-protests.

A wave of anti-Muslim rallies will sweep nearly 30 cities across America on Saturday, in a move by far-right activists that has drawn sharp criticism from civil rights groups and inspired counter-protests nationwide.

The so-called “anti-Sharia” rallies have been organized by Act For America, which claims to be protesting about human rights violations but has been deemed an anti-Muslim hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. The planned demonstrations prompted security fears at mosques across the country and come at a time when hate crimes against Muslims are on the rise.

A coalition of 129 national and local organizations amplified concerns on Friday in a letter urging mayors to denounce the marches, which also coincide with Ramadan, the holy month in which Muslims fast during the daylight hours. At least one planned rally was canceled in Portland, Oregon, where two men were fatally stabbed last month while defending two Muslim women from a man who taunted them with racial slurs.

for so many years. Those groups were never labeled hotbeds for terrorists and militants BUT THEY ARE. Yes it seems when you are a white terrorist or a white racist it's all fine and hunky dory and protected. I'm white and I say this. It happens to be true. Can anyone imagine what would happen if people of color formed anti-white groups and marched? How about if non Christians hosted a big parade with signs that said ' Christianity is evil!' or " Do away with Christianity!' The right wing yells they are being persecuted all the time. They are projecting- They ARE the persecutors. The reason they are paranoid is because they have for so long done so much to so many they are afraid of getting it back some day.

those white supremacists would be the first to claim that Black Lives Matter protests ARE "anti-white" marches. Overlooking, of course, the fact that there never would have been a need for a BLM movement if black lives hadn't been treated like so much dirt under the feet of white America.

The sickening part of all this is that white supremacism is being "main-streamed" into our culture when we had barely reached the point where racists felt they had to hide their hatred.

"winners". One of the first things out of this truck's mouth is about "the new run media". Then a group photo with those stupid ass red hats. He also managed to squeeze in something about zyclon B not being able to come out of shower heads. That was right before the "USA" chants.

"However later on, a White House official confirmed to BuzzFeed News that Gabriel had in fact visited. "Ms. Gabriel and a colleague were here to participate in a brief meeting with a member of our legislative staff. The purpose was to make general introductions, which is pretty typical with any new administration," the official said, adding that Gabriel requested the meeting.

"Gabriel — who once said “every practicing Muslim is a radical Muslim” — founded the group ACT for America in 2007. She didn't return requests for comment from BuzzFeed News.

"BuzzFeed News reported in September 2016 that ACT for America has been classified as a hate group by several organizations that track extremism, such as the Southern Poverty Law Center. Ret. Gen. Michael Flynn — who President Trump recently fired as national security adviser for lying about communicating with Russia — called Islam a "cancer" at an ACT meeting and is a member of the group's board."

So, yeah, the White House seems to love them. If nothing else, they serve as a distraction from the Russian shitstorm.
